Mama Keeper's New Dress...

Posted in Clothed for a King

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted here with a new project.
Today was rainy and mostly uneventful
so I thought it a good day to finish the dress I began 2 weeks ago.

This was the first time I’ve made this particular dress
and I soon learned that I made it way too big.
So I had to adjust it as much as possible without ripping it all out, recutting, and starting over.

The fabric is a paisley print with natural colors,
different shades of brown, cream, mauve, etc…

I chose this pattern because I liked the sleeves,
though if I make it again, I may make them a bit longer.
I also raised the waist line and lengthened it.
Here is the final project…

The pattern used was Simplicity 9493

Hi there, I love the fabric!! Good choice. I like the pattern too. Besides having a hard time with the size, was it easy to sew? It looks great! And two weeks, that's pretty quick for a busy Momma shephard to sew up a dress!

Love the Lord, Lisa

Hey, you know what I got in my mailbox today? You know! How neat! Only thing is............they closed Bruester's down right after christmas, can you believe it? See, you guys move and the whole place just goes bad. Anyway, thanks so much. It is always a treat to get something in the mail. I know you like to check your mailbox too! 3 days before they closed down, they had a buy one get one free special on whatever was left in the coolers. You know we were there for that one!

Missing you all!

Went to the Simplicity website to check out the pattern before the changes you made. I wasn't able to see it. Is it an older pattern? They seem to change their numbers with each season or so.

I always love to see your sewing posts. You did such a good job. I already wrote down that pattern number down, thanks. I updated my bloglines for your new blog. I will update my blog this week. I don't blame you for moving. What good would a blog be if your beloved couldn't view it. Miss you. I pray all is going well. I hope Ally is feeling better. Kayla was laughing at me for commenting on Ally's blog. She didn't know, until later on when she hopped on to leave her a comment. lol

Titus 2:3-5

3 "The aged women likewise,
that they be in behaviour
as becometh holiness,
not false accusers,
not given to much wine,
teachers of good things;
4 That they may teach
the young women
to be sober,
to love their husbands,
to love their children,
5 To be discreet, chaste,
keepers at home,
good, obedient
to their own husbands,
that the word of God
be not blasphemed."

Proverbs 31:10-31

10 "Who can find
a virtuous woman?
for her price is
far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband
doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have
no need of spoil.
12 She will do him good
and not evil
all the days of her life.
13 She seeketh wool,
and flax,
and worketh willingly
with her hands.
14 She is like
the merchants' ships;
she bringeth her food
from afar.
15 She riseth also
while it is yet night,
and giveth meat
to her household,
and a portion
to her maidens.
16 She considereth a field,
and buyeth it:
with the fruit of her hands
she planteth a vineyard.
17 She girdeth her loins
with strength,
and strengtheneth her arms.
18 She perceiveth that
her merchandise is good:
her candle goeth not
out by night.
19 She layeth her hands
to the spindle,
and her hands
hold the distaff.
20 She stretcheth out
her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth
her hands to the needy.
21 She is not afraid of
the snow for her household:
for all her household
are clothed with scarlet.
22 She maketh herself
coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is
silk and purple.
23 Her husband is known
in the gates,
when he sitteth
among the elders
of the land.
24 She maketh fine linen,
and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles
unto the merchant.
25 Strength and honour
are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice
in time to come.
26 She openeth her mouth
with wisdom;
and in her tongue
is the law of kindness.
27 She looketh well
to the ways
of her household,
and eateth not
the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise up,
and call her blessed;
her husband also,
and he praiseth her.
29 Many daughters
have done virtuously,
but thou excellest them all.
30 Favour is deceitful,
and beauty is vain:
but a woman
that feareth the LORD,
she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit
of her hands;
and let her own works
praise her in the gates."
