What are the chances?

Posted in General

Our home is brand new. We bought it in December of ’04 and closed in July as it was finished being built. As with all new-builds, there are home warranty items that must be taken care of as time goes and we most definitely take advantage of the 1-year warranty that we have through the builder.

Today we had scheduled an electrician to come look at a few electrical outlets that seem to not be working properly. As the gentleman was looking into the first two of the four or so nodes, he came into some trouble.

“I’m not getting any juice out of ANY of your outlets – I need to go check your box outside.”

As he came back in, he exclaimed,

“Well, that’s a relief. I though we had bigger problems with your house, but it turns out the whole block doesn’t have electricity.”

And he was actually relieved! I thought this to be too coincidental. But it wasn’t his fault. Sure was a great way to start a week; Monday, no electricity, mad clients not accessing email or web applications, no VoIP, no local network…

In January, I start at church as Pastor Intern of Group Life Ministries. I’m going to outsource my client’s resources then.
