I've said Happy Mother's Day to my mother, my grandmother, and my children -now I want to say Happy Mother's Day to my Mother-In-Law.

Once I was playing that fun electronic 20Q game with some other women. We were all amazed at how it could guess our chosen object so often. We started trying to stump the game by thinking of things that we thought it wouldn't guess. We decided to see what it would guess for mother-in-law. The other women both answered the questions and the game said "You're thinking of a ZOMBIE"! When I answered the same questions, the game said "You're thinking of a SOULMATE". A lot of people might agree that their mother-in-law is a zombie, but let me tell you about my mother-in-law, "GoGo", who's soul is united with mine in loving and caring for the Hutcheson men. GoGo is hardworking, playful and tenderhearted. Past retirement age, GoGo still works as a Nanny and housekeeper 4 days a week. On her day off, instead of resting, she asks to keep our boys. And let me tell you one of our boys is a handful! GoGo is able to keep up with him though - taking him for rides on the four wheeler, pushing him around in his stroller, and just getting down on his level and playing with him. When she's not doing these things with the baby, she's playing golf and shooting pool with our older son. She keeps going when women half her age would drop. I guess she's used to it though after raising my wonderful husband! GoGo laughingly tells me that Randy was very hyper when he was little too. It seems that he was always into something when he was growing up. As a mother, GoGo worked hard to give Randy all the advantages in life. She sacrificed to send him to a prestigious private school and to give him the good things that money could buy. It's common for parents to tell their children about how tough they had it growing up, but when Randy starts to tell Zach about his childhood Zach says, "Don't even tell me Dad. It'll just make me jealous.". GoGo has a tender heart and cries easily when she sees another hurting , be it human or animal. GoGo spends a lot of time caring for her great niece who is a special needs child. She frequently begins telling us of events of the day and ends up in tears. She is also very sympathetic to the situation of the child's mother and sometimes weeps while praising the woman for being such an outstanding parent under such difficult circumstances. GoGo recognizes her blessings and hurts for those who are less fortunate. GoGo , thank you for shaping Randy into the husband and father that he is today, for delighting in the boys, and for being a soulmate and not a zombie! |
