Well, nothing has been happening around here lately.

On the 4th of July - I know this may sound kind of weird - we got to kill chickens! Whoohoo! What we do first is put them head first into a little metal cone, so their head sticks out at the bottom. Then we take a knife and cut the arteries on the side of their necks to make them bleed to death. And then, once they're dead, somebody takes the bird over to a scalding pot and practically boils it until the feathers come off nice & easy. And then someone takes it to a plucker, which is a machine with rubber things that pull the feathers off. And then they give the bird to me, and I have to make sure all the little tiny feathers all over the bird come off. Then I pass it down to someone who cuts off the head, feet, and end of their wings. Then that gets passed down to my dad, who guts it and puts it in cold water until it's ready to be bagged.

Anyway, for the main part of my post, here is a pic of me right after my haircut.

I had a friend that would walk through the chicken yard and as she passed by the one she wanted she would grab her by the head and swing it around until the neck broke! I love all the gadgets you have to help with the work.

Your new haircut is quite handsome. Your mom must be so pleased!

Oh gross! I can remember when I was about your age (yeah, when dinasaurs roamed the earth...LOL) My dad use fling the chickens around by their necks until their heads came off. They would run all over the place w/o their heads. Quite horrifying. ;o(
