Writing Assignment #5

Character: Katie

Feeling: Happy/excited/tired

Scene: "Katie!," her mother called. "Come here, I have news for you!"
"Okay, mom." she replied slowly. Katie had to use all her strength to rise from her comfortable bed.
She stumbled down the stairs, and tried not to let her eyelids droop too much.
"What did you want to tell me mom?" she asked.
"Your friend Amelia is coming to visit next month, all the way from Oregon!"her mother replied.
Suddenly, she didn't feel so tired and clumsy any more!
"I haven't seen her for two years!" Katie shouted.
then she skipped up the stairs to email her friend.

Character: Joseph

Feeling: Ashamed/embarrassed

Scene: Joseph saw his sister's diary laying open on her side table. This was his chance! he grabbed a pen from her windowsill and quickly opened the book. his hands shook as he scribbled over all the words in her diary. He heard a noise and turned quickly around. His sister was standing in the doorway. Joseph felt his cheeks tingle and knew they were getting red.
"What did you do!!!!!!!!!" his sister yelled as she looked at her book. "Wait till mom hears about this!"
Joseph hung his head.
"Sorry Lizzie." He whispered. "I'm really sorry!"

Nicely done, Emyrosie! Joseph's feelings, especially, were easy to see: cheeks tingle; hands shook.

And Katie's "shout" and "skipping" down the stairs worked well for showing her being "excited."

I hope you are having fun with these lessons!
