Writing Assignment #8
Little Red Riding Hood lived with her 30-year-old mother in a small
cottage in the woods. Ivy climbed and weaved around the cottage. One day
she set out to bring her grandmother a basket of food. Mother packed a
fresh loaf of bread, a few slices of bologna, and a thermos of hot, steaming
cocoa in the basket.
Red Riding Hood left the cottage and wandered along
the path through the deep, dark forest. Her stomach fluttered at the
shadows. Suddenly, from behind a tall fir tree, a dark, shaggy creature with
pointed ears and a mouth full of sharp teeth appeared. It was a wolf!

Sorry, I read the "Do you agree" page before I did it! Oops!

Fishing in the creek on a summer’s day

Man, I thought this would be fun! The sun is prickling down my neck, I haven't caught a single fish, and my arms are getting tired from dangling the pole above the water! But look at the bright side! The sky is a bold, light blue, and it makes the green-blue water sparkle. Across the creek, laid a soft, green carpet of moss. This, I decided, might of been a good fishing trip after all!

Perfect, EmyRosie!
And that's OK about looking at the "Do you Agree?" section. The point is to learn it, and if that helped, that's OK.

Your scene with the fishing is nicely done. I like how you did the whole thing in "present tense" just for something different. You really set the mood with the way you wrote it.

Good job!
You're coming right along.
