Aug. 22, 2009 - ~* News From A Land Far Far Away*~
Hello to all my dear HSB friends! :D
Wow! you guys are amazing! I got 23 commenst on my previous entry. :D Thats the most I think I've ever gotten on one entry. YOU GUYS ROCK! (guys counts girls lol)
Well...I am doing good I'm just SUPER sore. lol I went to some caves with a whole bunch of friends and climbed up an 8ft wall that goes strait up and down with just one knotch in it to put your foot in. Otherwise your just grabbing onto anything that you can with your hands and the whole place is watery slippery, it was rather scarey. But I'm proud of myself cause I made it up all by myself. :D lol
After that everyone (and more) came to my house and we had dinner, smore, and we PARTAYED! WOOT! It was a lot of fun! I love my friends and family!! :D
Today we are going to a pool partay thing!! :D I don't know how i'm going swim with my leg killing me, but it should be a blast! And most of the people I saw yesterday I'll be seeing today, WOOT! haha It's kinda funny how thats working out.
Umm...right now the weather is beautiful! It's nice a cool and sunny. I should really be outsitde but I'm inside just friend my brain with games on facebook and writting entrys on HSB and wanting to chat with friends on e-mail. lol Oh well...*sigh*
My little brother is playing games with a friend so I'm not the only one friend my brain, right? I guess that should make me feal better but it doesn't much. lol
I am going to try and learn some elvish with a friend of mine. So I might be useing some stuff on here just to practice. I'm terrible at remembering so don't think I'll be memorizing stuff super fast. lol
It will take a REALLY long time for me to just get a tiny bit of the language memorized probably. But it shall be fun. :)
Right now I am working on the Two Towers. I'm enjoying it very much. It's interesting to read the books after watching the movies so many times. The battle of Helms Deap was kinda strange to me in the book. It just happened really fast to me, and it didn't seem to like....dramatic. I don't know. It's kinda hard to explain but it's something like that. What do you all think about the movie compared to the book?
I like them both VERY MUCH! I love the history and detail that Tolkien has put into his work.
I think it would take a very long time to know pretty much everything about Middle Earth and his creations.
But I am working on it. Slowly.
Anyways!...I should go now. Maybe I'll got outside and get some good pictures for you all to see!
I hoper to hear from you all again and more! :D I enjoy talking with you all even though I don't REALLY know you.

so anyway, i have to agree on Tolkien's description of the battle of Helm's Deep, not as exciting as the movie, but so worth reading!! and ur lucky, u have the one book i'm missing. oi.
have you ever read The Legend of Lady Ilena? Its historical fiction, and set in Britian during the Anglo-Saxon thing or slightly after, i think. Its really good!!!

I have never rock climbed, I have heard that it is fun, but freaky, I have never had the guts to try it though, lol! Thats so cool that you had a good time and you had a PaRtAy, totally cool!
I have never read the Lord of the Ring books, my brothers watched the movies so much that I think it ruined the movies and the books for me, lol! Thats cool that you are enjoying them! The books are always supposed to be better then the movies!

Oh yes the weather here as been absolutely gorgeous too! I wish it would stay like this all year. :P Wow those caves sound like a bunch of fun. hehe :) scary but fun! Yeah today was our first day of school, it went pretty well, I thought it would take a lot longer for me but it didn't! Yah! lol I know I love hanging out w/ my friends I had a good time at that picnic thing. Sounds like you had a blast with your friends! :) Ooh yumm you had s'mores! Haha yeah that's a good thing!! :) I thought it would take me forever to do it all b/c I'm doing 2 yrs of history and bible this year and a new science that takes a lot longer and im teacheing my little sister math. But... I got it all done pretty fast!!! :) yah! Lol hopefully yours won't be too long either! Aww you don't like smores?? Too bad :p lol but hey chocolate is a pretty rockin substitute! :D I love chocolate!!!!! Haha ttyl!!

I always chuckle when I hear people ask about homeschooling and socialization- you sound well and truly socialized!
Have you read the Silmarrillion or Unfinished Tales by Tolkien? They add lots more detail and history to Middle Earth- the Silmarrillion is about the First Age of the Earth and describes some things only mentioned in passing in LOTR. It's great, although heavy going at times.
Unfinished tales has some of the essays etc that Tolkien never finished- the history of Galadriel (that was about to go a massive face-lift before he died), more of the Ringwraiths' hunt for the ring and the account of the battle at the Fords of Isen where Theoden's son was killed. I got both from the local library, and they are both really good.
Well, I didn't like how the movie changed the story so that Elves fought at Helm's deep, but it does add more character to the Elves and their predicament (loving middle earth and needing to leave it or fade). It's one reason why I love LOTR- the story of the Elves, their majestic past and their past glories- fading away with the trees in laurelothlorien. Chuckle. Maybe I could make a poet yet!
Yeah- looking at the movie I can see how Helm's deep seems a bit quick in the book- but that's because the movie emphases incredible "high-adrenaline" battles and books can focus more on personal details like Frodo and Sam in Mordor. The movie is pretty good about Helm's Deep- and I was going to say that the bit about Aragorn and Gimli jumping to sortie against the enemy was a bit far-fetched- only to remember that Alexander the Great did it too! So I forgive their Hollywood dramatics! :)

well, the reason i don't have it is bcuz i found the first and the third at a yard sale (I love yard sales!!) but they didn't have the second one. weird. just the first and third. but i do have the second movie, so i read the first book, watch the second movie, then read the third book. lol. not really.
anyway..... ummm........ yeah. have you ever read King's Arrow by Douglas Bond? kinda a random question cuz i've never read it. lol

Yeah, at first I had a rechargeable battery, but after like a year ya gotta get a new one..I got a regular battery(I thought it was rechargeable lol) and so I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't charge, then I realized it didn't say rechargeable lol! So it died on me in the middle of a church concert haha! And the lens wouldn't go in haha!

These lovely days have been kind of hot lately, mid 90's, and the weather men say it's going to be in the early 100's this week. So other than that I'm fine.
As for what I've been up to: I finish sewing a skirt last week, and now I'm knitting the last sleeve to a coat which I put off doing while sewing. So nothing very exciting, but it will be great when I finish it. :D
By the way, did you know that the side bars are covering each side of the posts?

My day has been going well! Last night I thought I was getting sick b/c I had a sore throat and I was like OH NO I can't get sick! But I'm fine now so that's good. This morning I did my school and talked to strive17 and unfathomable... and that's about it!
I have v-ball practice tonight :/ thursday are always the hardest! Ugh oh well! So what have you been up to?

The one thing that is always annoying when they make movies based on a book is they leave out important parts of the book and then it gets confusing, but in some movies that are based on books they explain the story line a lot better and they make it easier to understand!!! And I totally agree with you some movies that they base on books if they followed the whole story line it would be a SUPER long movie, lol!

Yep volleyball's fun! :) We played junior varsity last night. They were hard :P I have bruises all over my wrists from bumping their serves! Lol

Actually the skirt is the first thing I've sewn from a pattern in about eleven years. And even though I didn't really 'sew' in the meantime, I have fixed the tears in my clothes and stuff like that.

Well, the walls are kinda a bluegrass color, and then I have chocolate brown and teal-ish stripes(only a few though, or it would look like a jail or something haha) and polka dots.....and then I have a lime green rug, and chair....and I think more lime things lol! And my bedspread is white with big dots in all those colors....I'll have to post pics!

I only talk to my bff on the phone and that's about it. cuz if i talk to anyone else i can't think of anything to talk about!! haha :)

my dad is a doctor and he freaks when we get any sun. B/c he has had skin cancer and i have skin a lot like his and he doesn't want me to get it too when im older!
but a little vitamin D is good for ya every once and awhile right?! :D
I know I really enjoy our conversations it's fun! It's cool finding a bunch of like-minded ppl on hsb that homeschool and stuff. I hate it when ppl stereotype homeschoolers as people in denim jumpers and long hair! sometimes i talk to people and they are like oh your homeschooled? and im like yupp! and there like oh i thought homeschoolers wore dresses all the time. and im like umm does it look like im wearing a dress?? Lol.

My day was good, did some shopping and found the prettiest party dress at Kohls but it was originally sixty eight dollars with a half off sale. very expensive. it made me feel like going to a party with a guy on my arm. lol
