My Journey

I can't believe how long it has been since I last posted

It has been a long 6 weeks.

Four weeks ago I left for the a 3 day weekend to take my oldest to 2 basketball tournaments.  We came home Sunday evening to a call letting me know my grandfather apparently had a mild heart attack Saturday night and was not doing well.  All 5 of his children and spouses were with him as well as some of the grandchild.  My aunt, who is a home health care nurse, "just happened to be in town" so she stayed and took care of him for the following 6 days.  I have never been at the bedside of someone who is dying and it is not an experience I would want to repeat but I am glad I was able to be there and hold his hand during those days.

There was an upside to this story.  My dad confirmed with my grandfather that he had been saved about 3 weeks prior to that day.  I talked with my grandmother and she confirmed she was saved when she was 6, she regrets she has not lived for Him but was sure she was saved.  My aunt was saved on that Monday. Another aunt reconfirmed her life to Christ and learned what it means to live as a Christian. My cousin shared with her mom that she had been saved at her husband's grandfather's funeral just 3 weeks previous.  Another cousin openly talked about the Bible which she has not done in years.

In the end, after 30 years of praying, we saw a complete change in our family.  It was amazing to watch and participate in.  This happens in other families and I had given up hope that it would happen in ours.  We are even beginning a Bible study with the women in the family.

Another event that has kept me from being here is the surgery our 4th, Andrew, had this past Tuesday.  He had his adenoids and tonsils removed.  He has recovered much better than expected which I am grateful for.

We are done with school for the year and now I am beginning to look at our summer.  I want a productive summer and need to look through our days to be sure they include all I want to do.  Too many of our summers have drifted by with nary a thing accomplished unless you want to talk about sleeping in and TV watching.  I have definitely raised some children who know how not to be diligent in all things.  It needs to change.

Some things that I want to include in our days.  Work days around the house, a fun day (going to the pool, state parks...), nature walks, memory work, house projects, scrapbooking, 1 subject finished per child, deep cleaning before starting school, dejunking...the list goes on.  I will never get it done if we don't have some kind of outline for our week.  I will share when I have an idea of what our weeks will look like.

I am so sorry to hear about your grandfather's passing. I am so thankful that he accepted the Lord and that the rest of your family has done the same! That is so amazing that so many other family members have also commited their lives to Christ! What an answer to your faithful prayers!

I am glad that you are back to blogging. I missed you while you were gone!
