respect

Posted in Everyday Events
We are having some issues with respect here.  After the kids went to bed last night we were talking about some things that happened during the evening and realized we have gone to an easier form of parenting for us.  It is easier to let the kids go to Children's Church instead of sitting with us in church, it is easier to let them go to all the youth functions,  it is easier to say yes than to have to say no.

We let them know this morning that we will be going back to the old way.  No children's church and limited youth activites.  K was fine with the decision and let me know she supported us.  D was not happy and I had to point out that the attitude he was displaying at that moment was the reason we were making this decision.  A, R & M are disappointed to no longer be going to Children's Church but didn't complain.

It means more involvement for us and more work but I think in the end (when they become adults) we will be thankful we have made this decision.

Thanks for sharing this. I made the mistake of promising my eldest that we would go to Children's Church sometimes and now I have to "pay up" and I don't wanna! But we will go once and then I think I'll join you in the "back to the old plan" and keep our littles with us.

I like worshipping together as a family and miss my littles when they aren't with me. :-)

Here is rivers of encouragement flying your way! I was randomly blogging by and thought I would stop. This was a great post. It is so easy to fall into the world's trap of letting someone else have the influence over your children. Then they slip away quietly and you wonder what happened! Kuddos to you for snatching your children back. They will thank you for it!

Nov. 20, 2007 - GREAT effort is never easy

It is a journey and we all go down the path of life with out children and sometimes we get sidetracked don't we? I so enjoyed reading about the easy path not being the best one. I am so thankful and encouraged to read about how you are turning the hearts of your children back to what is truly important. Blessings to you on the journey.
In HIS arms,
Jodi

That was suppose to say the path with "OUR" children, not with out... sorry about that. (sheepish grin)

I agree... We have been having a lil' problem with our Children's Church...My DS has been picking up some behaviors that we don't allow at home and I have had to basically threaten him with having to quit...It is a tightrope to walk...
Have a great week..
Merry Christmas
