So many grubby little hands, so little time!My kids are just the normal type; always creating and touching and getting dirty. When they walk down the hallway or up the stairs, they leave behind enough evidence to keep CSI busy for a century! When I was a young lady I visited with a family that had a strange ritual; they washed their walls and light fixtures once a week. I remember it distinctly because my dear friend scowled at having to do this chore before we could spend time together. This made a big impression on me. Since the beginning of my family I have made this part of our family life as well. I make it a point to periodically clean doors, door jams, bannisters, light fixtures and walls. It is amazing how this changes the appearance of a house, and how good it makes you feel! Of course, it is a lot easier if you paint your walls with semi-gloss instead of flat latex--which is next to impossible to keep up. A few tips: "magic erasers"--a must for cleaning off those marks that won't come off any other way. baking soda--will do if the eraser won't work at all touch-up paint--keep some spackle, some paint, and a paint brush on hand for those little mishaps that can become eyesores.
