I have not been here in a long while, but I see there are still really good discussions up. :)
Anyways, on topic, I have actually been thinking about that for a while. I really want a job, but with my schoolwork, I don't think that would really be possible unless I worked night shifts or weekends, and I don't want to miss my sleep or church on Sundays. I am wrestling with what I should do, and if I got a job, my grades in school might not be as good, which is why I'm sort of aiming to hold off until summer. School-work, I think, comes before a job, unless you really need it because your family is struggling. So, yeah, that's what I think.
I think that if your schoolwork and family life does not suffer, having a part time job is good. It can teach you how to wisely handle the money you earn and how to work responsibly in a work environment.
Of course, balance, as with nearly everything, is the key. Doing 40 hours a week probably going to make your family life and schoolwork suffer, but if, as Sword Warrior pointed out, your family needs the money, that's probably more important.
I think that having a job as a teen would be helpful. It prepares you for the real world, and helps you create a extra bit of money. Whether you do it to help your family or do it to be able to buy something you really want, that's your choice.
As long as you don't mess up with school work and have a good head on your shoulders, I think it would be a good experience.
I don't think it is necessary to have job, but I don't think it is wrong. I have a job once a week babysitting all day. It has been very good experience for me, and has prepared me for being a mother.

P.S. I just looked at the other comments and saw that a lot of people were mentioning school work. I agree that school work shouldn't suffer. The kids I work for nap in the afternoon so I do some school then.
This is for Christian teens who are not interested in wasting their time, but are interested in meeting other like-minded christian teens and would like to participate in discussions that glorify the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. Although blogs are usually used for online journals, this blog will be used as somewhat of an online forum, where teens can leave their opinions about selected topics and help each other form opinions on certain subjects. Please feel free to leave your opinions of each post and pm me with any new topics that you think would give way to a godly discussion. Thank you for visiting and God bless.
