Hi,

I just finished my cross country meet.  After I got home, I sat down and did nothing!  I thought I did good at the meet.  I don't know.

You want to know how my sister wakes me up?  She screams, "IZZY!!!"

Tomorrow is my friend's birthday party.

I gotta go to bed.

Love,
Izzy

I just had my first communion.  I got a trophy yesterday for soccer.  I kicked a goal yesterday!  The ball was right in front of the goal and I kicked it in!

I didn't like ballet.  The recital was really hot!

• May. 29, 2007 - A note from the author of the Martha books!

Izzy's mom here.  I could not help but share these pictures and Izzy's "bare footin" with Melissa Wiley.  She graciously wrote me back and said:

They are beautiful! What a joy! Thank you so much for sharing these with me. Her desire to go barefoot like Martha just tickles me pink. :)

Tomorrow we start the third book in the Martha series!!

Inspired by the beautiful header over on Cottage Blessings, I took my new digital camera out, dressed the girls up again, and took some more pictures!

I have to say that when I asked Izzy if she would like to take some outdoor shots running around in her first communion dress she said "Yes!" and that she wanted to run around without shoes on too, just like Martha in the Little House books!

• Mar. 17, 2007 - Our St. Patrick's Day Craft

Mommy wanted to do something different for a craft this time, so she chose to make a St. Patrick's Day Center piece based on the craft at The St. Nicholas Center. she figured that at least as far as crafts go, exchanging one bishop for another shouldn't be too tough! We followed the directions except we opted not to paint the face. We also exchanged red felt for green felt. We put a shamprock on the bishop's hat with a cross in the center, and green press-on shamrocks on the front of the vestment. There is also have a shamrock vine climbing his shepherd's staff.
St. Patrick
St. Patrick chased all of the snakes off of the Isle of Ireland. Our St. Patrick chased four packages of gummy worms representing snakes off of the plate and into our mouths!  YUM!

St. Patrick drivin the snakes from Ireland
Mom ordered the special cookie cutter in the shape of Ireland after reading about it on the Cottage Blessing Blog.

We all wondered, "what is it?!" when we saw it.  Even Daddy!    The cookies weren't very easy to cut out either!! But what they lacked in shape, they made up for in frosting! I decorated then with lots of green frosting.  I made crosses, rosaries, shamrocks, hearts and snakes!
St. Patrick's Day Cookies
I also wanted to make a St. Patrick out of our wooden spoon figures for our collection. I did this one all by myself!

St. Patrick wooden spoon figure
Speaking of spoon saints, here are the Sts. Perpetua and Felicity that we made for their feast days. We experimented with doll hair. It was fun. If you look carefully, one of our dolls is pregnant. That's how you can tell Perpetua from Felicity. I taped some little balls under her dress to make her look pregnant.

St. Perpetua and Felicity
So here are all the spoon saints we have so far! Daddy Pete made this wooden rack for us to keep them all standing up.

Our spoon saints on their new rack!
This is what our St. Patrick's Day table looked like! (It looks like that now too, without the cookies and gummy worms of course!)

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day!

• Feb. 11, 2007 - Candlemaking for Candlemas!

Melting the wax

Threading the wick through the bottom of our mold (a cardboard carton that use to hold delicious chocolate milk - which we had fun drinking too!)

Filling our mold with ice!

I mean FULL OF ICE!!!

Sam pours the hot wax into the mold over the ice for us!

A while later, mom tears the cardboard apart revealing our beauitufl Candlemass Candle!  (Over a sink full of dishes!! Yikes!)

The finished candle on our table!
