busy weekend again

 Saturday we took the smashed car up to PSL for storage, we will decide what to do with it later.  We stopped at Sonny’s bbq for lunch. We went car shopping in the afternoon; we looked at a lot of cars and found 4 we really like. One is a Sebring convertible, an Intrepid, a Nissan Altima and a Jaguar.

In the evening we went to the candy cane parade in Hollywood. It was lots of fun, the girls had a blast. There were lots of floats and some had snow or bubbles. We got home really late and after getting the girls to bed I did some more car searching online.

Sunday after church we stopped at a car lot and test drove the Jaguar. It is very nice.

We had lunch and watched the Vikings game at the sports bar (Vikings won).  

We stopped at best buy on the way home and did some more research on gaming systems.  We had a light dinner and watched “Night at the Museum”

our busy week

We have been really busy this last week. We picked up hubby’s dad at the airport on Friday and went out to dinner. Saturday was a sidewalk fair down on the river walk. They had a lot of giveaways, some great food and the new fire rescue boat on display.

Sunday was church and a chilly walk on the beach.  During the week we did school work, went for walks, went to the library and played in the pool and hot tub.

Tuesday on the way to go shopping I was in an accident on the interstate. We mashed the front of the car. It will need a new hood, bumper, headlights and probably new front fenders as well. It still runs though. We haven’t decided if we are going to fix it out not yet. It is almost 15 years old, but still runs well.

Thanksgiving was great; we had way too much food as usual. We got a small turkey this year. The girls helped cook; Bitty made scalloped corn and Bubba made mashed potatoes. After we ate, we went played in the pool and hot tub. We had pie for desert, played card games and watched a movie.

Friday was shopping and movies. Saturday we went down to bayside and went for a boat cruise around the port and millionaire row. Some of the houses are worth over 50 million. There is an empty lot available on one of the islands for a mere 6 ½ million. The boat ride was great and informative. We spent more time in the pool and hot tube and then played more cards and another movie.

Sunday It was raining and wasn’t a good day to go play at the beach so after church we went car shopping. We stopped at the grocery store to get some snacks and came home and watched the Vikings beat up the Bears. Hubby was excited to watch the game as they don’t show much except for the Dolphins down here. The girls watched Tinkerbelle in the bedroom and then watched the last half of the game when their movie was over.

Today was school work, and then we walked down to hubby’s office and went to lunch with him. It is a bit chilly out today. It is probably only mid 60’s, which is chilly if you are used to high 80’s.

Two malls, two movies and three large popcorns

 We survived black Friday. We didn’t get up early to go out, but made it out before 10. We stopped at the midtown mall, hit Target, Marshals, and Linen and Things, and then had lunch at Five Guys Hamburgers. The burgers were great and the fries were fantastic.

We went to the next mall after lunch. It was very crowded, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Dad hit the body lotion store and we hit the Godiva chocolate store. We stopped at the apple store and then went to the theatre. We saw bolt in 3d and then saw Madagascar 2. We had way too much popcorn of course. By the time we got home it was past supper time, so we had a light meal and watched a movie.

The Gettysburg Address

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

the Premier details

 

We picked up hubby from work and fought traffic down to the theatre in South Miami. The Florida Marlins were sponsoring the event and had their mascot, some players and cheerleaders there.We got a great spot on the barrier set up for the red carpet at the entrance to the theatre. We waited over an hour for the stars, but got t-shirts and bobble head dolls from the Marlins. They passed out t-shirts and posters for the movie. When Will Smith and Rosario Dawson arrived they gave autographs, talked to the press and had photos with the Florida Marlins. The girls got to talk to them and get their posters signed by both. We are going to get frames to put the posters in for the girls. Bubba also got her movie t-shirt signed by Rosario Dawson.

There were too many people to fit in the main theatre so they opened up a second showing one for the overflow crowd. We had to check in our cameras, have the cell phones off and have the bags checked before entering the theatre for the premier. Hubby stopped at the snack counter and got popcorn, drink, and little pizzas for dinner. We got seats at the very top. The theatre was packed and the movie was great. The girls really enjoyed it. You should see it if you get a chance to go.

 We didn’t start home till almost 10. The girls were flying high with excitement and took awhile to calm down and get ready for bed.  

It was a lot of fun and I’m glad we went down for it. Today we are sleeping in, then doing school work and getting back to reality.

We went to the Premier of "Seven Pounds" tonight.

Wednesday update

  Sunday after church we had a quick lunch and rode around downtown on the bikes. They closed some of the roads for Bike Miami Day. We had a great time. It was fun to see a lot of people out on bikes.

Tuesday we went shoe shopping downtown and to the Veterans Day ceremony at Bayside Park.

I have been spinning on the drop spindle again. I finished the fire roving, it is fabulous.

another Hurricane

Hurricane paloma is on its way to Cuba. It is already a category 3.  Cuba has gotten hit a lot this year.  It sounds like we will only get a bit of rain and wind because of it.

 I finished the “hey teach” cardigan and the yellow  combo corset (second try). Jill got her elephant and says he is really cute.

We went to the park this morning to see the traveling wall for Vietnam. It was a really moving display. It will be here until Veterans Day and then moves onto a different spot.
