Year-Round Homeschooling - 1dd16 is Reading through the Bible

1dd16 is reading through the Bible this year, and has posted several of the Scripture Jewels she has found.  Here is her latest

Jeremiah 8:4-7

"This is what the Lord says: "When people fall down, don't they get up again? When they start down the wrong road and discover their mistake, don't they turn back?
Then why do these people keep going along their self-destructive path, refusing to turn back, even though I have warned them?
I listen to their conversations and what do I hear? Is anyone sorry for their sins? Does anyone say, What a terrible thing I have done"? No! All are running down a path of sin as swiftly as a horse rushing into battle.
The stork knows her time of migration, as do the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane. They all return at the proper time each year. But not my people."

I am reading through the entire Bible this year and came across this verse.
I had never heard this before and it is so true in the world today.

Why do we as Believers’ think that if we fall to our sins we should crawl around in it for awhile, instead of stopping and saying "Ok, look where I am. I need to quit doing this and get up and get on the right steps. I need to get this out of my life or I will not be the person God has created me to be."?

When you are driving and you take a wrong turn, do you go back and start over? Then why in your walk with God can’t you do the same?

The longer you travel the wrong way or crawl around, the more you mess up the plan that God has already laid out for you. And the more it becomes familiar to you and you don’t even realize you do it.

Sin only last for a season. Sooner or later you are going to hit a wall on the road or when you are crawling, and you are going to come out scarred. But you will know that you were wrong and you will try your hardest to not to that again, if you are truly repentive.
I learned that lesson the hard way last summer.

Go here to see the rest of what I learned:

It’s human nature to get up when you fall and turn around when you make a wrong turn. Why can’t we condition our spirits to do the same?
I hear people say, "You need to get your flesh under control" but sometimes we need to get our spirit under control too.

When we sin we need to acknowledge our sin and apologize to God for it. And if you have sinned to someone in front of someone else and then you only apologize to the person you sinned to, then the other person will think that you never did anything to change what happened. It is important to apologize to everyone that was there when you sinned.

Sometimes, I know, that we don’t think it’s a big deal to apologize, but we have to ask forgiveness. We have stopped saying, "What have I done?" and we keep doing it over and over.

We become lax in our sin, not seeking God’s love and forgiveness.

I know that since reading this verse I am going to try to always ask forgiveness. And acknowledge my sin and turn from it.

Thank you for spending your precious time to read the ramblings of a 16-year-old girl who is trying to become a woman seeking the way of God.

I can only hope to become as much as a blessing as all the people I meet here are to me. So THANK YOU.

I am very proud of her and all that she sees in Scripture, and how much she is growing in the LORD.  Sometimes, I wish my heart was as teachable as hers is. Stop by her blog and read her other Scripture Gems...

Just wanted to thank you for reading my blog and taking the time to comment. Yes, it truly is inspiring to know that those we admire, admire us as well.

Your daughter sounds like a joy to be around. What a well thought out post, full of wisdom.

What a wonderful treasure to unearth! I don't remember reading that passage before. Also, that's really neat how your daughter has gained so much insight into these particular verses. Her love for God's Word is also very refreshing. That is one of my many prayers for our children some day... that they will come to love the Word of the Lord and apply it to their lives.
