"Why Do We Homeschool?" A Homeschool Contest I Can Enter too!! ~ Gena's Contest ends today

Since I am having my own Homeschool Contest (I can't really enter!), to encourage all of the planning we are all doing at this time, I am thrilled that Gena is having a similar contest I can enter my 2-cents into!! Besides, you can win product from the Schoolhouse Store.
Gena asked 3 questions:

1. Why do you homeschool?
2. Will you homeschool your children through graduation? Why/why not?
3. If you had a friend considering homeschooling, and you could only give them ONE good reason to start, what would that be?

Here are my answers to Gena's Contest.

1. Why do you homeschool?
How much time do you have??
   **We started out homeschooling because of safety for our children, as there had been a shooting in the middle school where we lived in NM. As we have grown and matured in our homeschooling goals and the desires of our hearts (and especially the Lord), we homeschool as an act of submission to Our Lord.
   **I know someday I will give an accounting of and be held accountable for these gifts God has bestowed on me. I felt at the time our oldest was 3, that I would be sending our children to the wolves, if we sent them to the pss.
   **As our family has grown and matured, I have seen that no one else is qualified to train our children. If they were, God wouldn't have put them in our family. The church, the public schools, the Y - no one is able to train them up as the Lord desires - He gave them to us to train up.
   **Only we can educate them in the Biblical, curricular, social, etc. because it is God's Plan for our lives. The pss has to constantly defend itself for the children they ruin socially, ethically, etc. I do not want my children to be another ps statistic.
   **We have already seen some of the trials/temptations children are faced with in the presence of their Christian peers. Why send them into a haven of secular, sinful teaching and children who are sadly, but intentionally trained in unrighteousness?
   **I love having my children home. I know who they are; they know who I am (though that isn't always a good thing!!) I would not have that opportunity if they were away at public OR private school and all the activities they suck you into.
   **Life is too short not to stay home, live simply and love God. You cannot do that properly if you are serving the world and its expectations of your family!

2. Will you homeschool your children through graduation? Why/why not?
   **Yes, we are doing that. I will be posting Reasons To Homeschool During the High School Years today, and that will cover it.
   **Other than that, see question #1, above.
   **I don't think the reasons to homeschool or not change with age. We desire our children to follow the Lord all the days of their lives, not just through 8th grade, then pick it up again when they turn 18.
   (*Haven't we, the Body, figured that out yet, with all of the statistics of children who leave their faith when they turn 18?)

3. If you had a friend considering homeschooling, and you could only give them ONE good reason to start, what would that be?
   **Because the Lord gave those children to them to train, and He is sufficient in all things. Besides, He already said that in His WORD!
