RSS FeedEnlisting Your Help! I have so many GREAT entries, I need your vote!!
Friday, August 18, 2006
Besides, you will enjoy all of the entries, and you may learn a few things, too, like I have!!!
Please visit the entries between today and Sat/Sun. Then, please come back and leave a comment HERE on Saturday or Sunday for your top 2-3 choices for "The Best-Laid Plans."
No criteria; we all homeschool differently, so leave your favorites for whatever reasons you have.
I think all of the entries have been well-thought-out. I have enjoyed finding new curriculum, learning some new ideas and seeing the pictures. Thank you to all of you for including why's and wherefore's!
I have tried to correct the links on this entry - about 3-4 times, and they keep going back to include my username. If the link doesn't work, just go to the address bar and take out my username, then hit go again. I would hate for you to miss out on the great plans.

Posted by MommylovesRJ
....very tough!! I have to say that my top two faves are AcceptanceWithJoy and babymakers, in no particular order. I think I may be prejudiced, however, because I am also an unschooler, and therefor, when I read about those who homeschool more classically, it seems very rigid and boring to me. I'm not saying classical homeschooling is wrong...and not implying that either. Just stating that it is difficult for me to make an unprejudiced opinion, and reading about curricula choices is tantamount to deciphering computer code--it holds no interest to me, because I don't understand it. KWIM? To those who may be reading this reply, who ARE classical homeschoolers...again, I see no problem whatsoever with classical homeschooling...and even understand that some states are extremely rigid, and you thusly have to take a much more scheduled approach. I am just trying to give my reasonings behind WHY it is difficult for me to make an unprejudiced opinion; I certainly do not intend my comment to be construed as an attack, in the slightest. Homeschooling is better than PS and private schooling, IMNSHO...regardless of how you choose to do it.

Thanks for holding this contest. It was great to read what other moms are doing. It is also awesome to see that most of the moms are just as excited to start up the next year as I am! Homeschooling is a beautiful thing!
My votes go to CreativeHSMom and QuietCajun -- Creative's was the most, well, creative, and QC's had those great pictures of the kids and schoolroom!

I don't know which ones I like best. There are so many. But I do know that I like the ones that are in more paragraph form, rather than question/answer form... you know... like mine... hhehehe.....

I liked them all! But if I must choose, I liked Jaminacema and Amber because they linked the things they are using. I also liked Jaminacema's organization of the items she chose to use.

ClassicalEducation4Me
I liked her b/c she is like me “Definitely a mix of curriculum” I would use Curriculum and my own stuff...“BOTH! If something new strikes me, I'm game to try it!” If an idea hits me I would try it. and also she lets her kids work wherever they’re comfortable. I prefer my room. plus, I really like her blog-layout.
Elcoud
I liked hers b/c she had everything for each child and it was simple and easy to follow. I really love her header pic.
SunnyMountain
I LOVED hers! She said exactly what I would do. This is her 1st year in HSing so that makes it all the most exciting. She is very well-planned.
Sunuffsgirl
I liked her plan. It was easy and not too overdone. Very easy to follow.
MrsStvens95
I just liked hers
Canadagirl
I liked hers b/c what she listed is what I like to do and it interests me. I think hers would be so fun to do. On hers I liked Luke’s plan the best...
KayinPa
This is one thing I liked about hers : “Do you plan? to a degree and then I wing it :) I plan like 6 months before the new school year starts and then I take it from there.” Me, me, me! I liked where she does school, and her school schedule. Not too strict, but yet she has a plan.
astirringlife
I liked her plan and I thought she did a good job of explaining it. I would have liked to do her plan as well!
kympossible
Again I would have loved to do what she is doing...
Amber
Can you not love Amber? Well, since she is my sister, I guess I better vote her (no, I liked her plan). I love her! I love Her!
Love yours truly,
Myrtle

Wednesday, August 23, 2006 - Siol Enal's Investigative Report: The "Back to (Home) School Contest" Entries
Posted by SuperAngel
Being the AWESOME reporter that I am, Jacque Dixon asked me to pick my favs of the Back to (Home) School Contest> because she just can’t decide since they are ALL really AWESOME plans!
So here is what I uncovered from going through ALL of the entries:
mamma1420
I really liked this because I am a PLANNER! She has everything planned and yet she is flexible, so that if one of the chilins’ isn’t quite ready to do something they can wait it off a bit.
Amber
Well since I LUV her so much....I have to vote for her.
Here is my reason (besides the fact that she is AWESOME!): I liked the way she linked everything and the plan she hopes to follow. And her school year looks alot like ours. (PLANNED!) Luv ya
CanadaGirl
I liked the list of books she would be doing and how she listed them for each child. (PLANNED!) I like all the literature she used. And I just had to vote for my SSIC!
Mrs.Stevens95
I liked the way she made up that chart....Way too good! (PLANNED!) She linked what she was using also.
Here is what she had to say about her PLAN: “I do plan but that does not mean that I follow it to a "T", it is there as more of a guideline than a rigid taskmaster.” I luv that! Like the Pirate’s Code!
ElCloud
I liked the way she is trying to use all the same books for all the chilins’, yet she has it so that is fits each of their learning styles. (PLANNED!)
And of course they are all incorporating the Bible into this! They are making sure that the PLANS of their school year are exactly what each child needs to get the best out of their home learning experience!
I like the way that they all listed the resources they are using. They are all giving their chilins’ the best education by the way they are homeschooling this year!
GREAT job, girls!
Stop by "The Daily Planet" soon! Be sure to check out my latest post : Siblings, Anger, Forgiveness, and Love and Mad Lib Contest Entry
