Homeschool, Government Homeschool and Public School

Laurie Bluedorn, who is Blogger of the week this week, posted a most formidable piece written by Charles and Kathy Lowers. Surely you know who Laurie Bluedorn is - and Trivium Pursuit.
I read their book, Teaching the Trivium, at a time God was working in my heart about the way we homeschooled.

Her post is entitled, Reasons to Avoid Government Homeschooling Like the Plague and Why Believers Need to Create Christ-Centered, Private Homeschools.  It is incredible.

This article is actually written to expose the false beliefs that some people have that government homeschooling is truly homeschooling. It also presents facts of why it is a Biblical ideal to homeschool and why homeschooling promotes Biblical headship while any involvement with the pss tears it down. Like I said, it is incredible.

I have long heard from Christians how I thought I was better than they were because we homeschooled and they sent their children to ps. Ok, in most cases I didn't actually hear it... it was more of an unspoken, angry attitude that said, "so you homeschool, yeah?"  I have heard the old baseless argument of how we are keeping our children from their true calling of witnessing to these poor lost souls in the pss. I have heard how we need to reform the pss, and be involved - send our children there.  I have heard it all.  In many instances, I later found out, after quite a tumultuous time in our lives, that it was just the conviction of the Holy Spirit on their lives that made them hateful toward our family.

"Those who hated God were incensed at the idea that bible-believing parents were taking back the headship of their homes." -from the article

If you are a person who has ever said these things to a homeschool family or you are a homeschool family who has heard any of it, this article will either incense you or make you weep as you feel the Spirit well up in your soul. If you, as a homeschool parent, have considered government homeschooling, sent your children to public school or considered it, this will solidify your resolve to keep them home with you.

Yes, some of it is sad, enlightening and angering. The truth of the spiritual wasteland and horror of the pss is something most of us either know firsthand or have heard of. It is sad that Christians are still pandering to the pss, just so they don't have to submit to the Lord. It is angering that the pss can feed children humanist garbage with the knowledge of and blessings of most parents.

With all I have heard (being a homeschool parent) about the unholy teachings of homosexuality, promiscuity and anti-christ values, there is no way a Christian parent who claims to be involved in their child's school would - or could -know less than I do about it. It is shameful.

I am truly happy to have the found the Heart of Wisdom Teaching Approach.  It is an approach that is not just full of Bible verses. It is based on the actual Word itself.  These are the days when the faithful have to follow through and know the WORD written, not just preached.   ~Hide it in our hearts~

Are we "Yoking with the Unsaved" ?
2 Corinthians 6: 14-17 says, "Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols?" Therefore, "come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord."

I won't say anymore. I would urge you to read this before you come down on me for my ideals in this area. There is truth in this article that will be faced in each Christian parent's life - in the here or the hereafter, and I would urge you to read it.

Be sure to look at the BJUP ad that reflects the truth about what your child will learn under the control of government education!

I have really enjoyed reading the last 3 or 4 of your entries-very eye-opening and filled with good information. I totally agree with all you've written. My dh and I would have to completely stick our heads in the sand and take some kind of brain-numbing drugs to send our kids off to the public or private school.
I really don't feel any judgement towards people who do (although like you, I have felt that others feel I judge them, but I don't) and honestly, this might sound callous, but I don't really care enough to mind other peoples' business. So, why do certain people mind our business??
We homeschool because the Lord directed us to do it and we have said,
"yes, Lord."
Thanks for your excellent posts! Holly

I pray that the things that you think are going to happen with the homeschool laws never come in place!
Keep up the AWESOME work you do with us kids. This school year will be great! You have a great plan going for you and it will come to pass.
I know I can get where I need to be this year! Especially with your help!

I know how hard you these couple of weeks have been for you, but don't give up! If you need someone to talk to I'm here! Things will get better shortly! I hope!

Thanks for letting us watch SMALLVILLE!! I am so happy!! Maybe after school we can watch more?!?!?!?! Or maybe we have to go to the store?? 8-( (for you)

I read this article on trivium pursuit's blog yesterday and was blown away. I thought about linking it on my blog too. We are really in a fight to protect our children and our families. The government tries to sneek in any way it can. They are very clever. The FREE idea and the TEACHER help is a draw to many, I'm sure. It's not worth it.
