It is important to teach our children the many aspects of current events. It is important to link their minds to history, and teach them that it is not just a bunch of ancient facts, but something that real people experienced, just as we are experiencing the history made in our day.Of course, we must be discretionary about what we teach to what age of child, but as parents who are concerned about protecting our children, you probably have that part covered. The most important history we can teach anyone is the history of Our Savior and the Bible. It is very important to teach Creation, as almost everything today in the media points our society and our children to evolution and the theory that 'millions and millions of years ago....' 4ds9 found himself sighing and squirming last night as we watched a documentary on Cuba (on liberal PBS, of course) that explained how the only thing they found on Cuba older than the 70 million-year-old islands themselves were the sea turtles that were around for millions of years before that. He could not contain himself. He doesn't understand how someone could not know the Truth. Not knowing much about evolution, he didn't get too uptight about the whole 150 explanations of how each creature had evolved into whatever for that terrain and region. This world is desparately in need of children who are trained to know about our Creator and Our Savior. They are also in need of families who recognize when we are being fed scientific, anti-Christ propaganda to shape the minds of people into a humanist view of life. It is subtle; and most Christians probably don't even hear the 'millions of years ago' and the evolution statements anymore. Many Believers are living watered-down Christian lives, for this very reason. I do not want to be one of them. I don't want our children to be, either. We have decided to teach our children the actual Bible. We read it together. We pray together asking the Lord illuminate our minds as we live our day together. He has a plan for our families. He has worked throughout history to bring us to this point, and we need to see Him in it. Teach your children actual history. Let them experience it. Don't just give them a workbook to fill-in-the-blanks. Study it with them. Give them your ideas and memories. If you didn't like history, tell them. Find out why and experience it in a way that you begin to see God working throughout time. Chances are, even if you went to a private school, you did not learn about how God moved in the Middle Ages- or the Cold War. I didn't. What was going on in other countries when Jesus walked the earth? Let your child experience it through literature, facts and even acting it out. Let your child make a knight's shield or use modeling clay to make a Jewish oil lamp. I am going to end this post with an e-mail report I received based on a current event that attacks and undermines the very basic principles our country was founded on. This happened a couple of weeks ago, so you may have already heard and responded to it. A "celebrity" has again slandered the face of Christianity. This is nothing new. I was shocked, however, that she categorized us ("radical christians"), unequivocally as "the same as radical Muslims who piloted hijacked jetliners into New York's Twin Towers, who chop off the heads of individuals and who bomb innocent children in suicide attacks." Well, I consider myself a radical Believer, but, obviously, Ms. O'Donnell has no idea what a Christian really is, so that won't make much difference to her.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An American Family Association Action Alert: O'Donnell on ABC: 'Radical Christians' no different than murderous radical Muslims: Neither O'Donnell nor ABC has apologizedDear Susan, ABC's Rosie O'Donnell told a nationwide audience this week that "radical Christians" are the same as radical Muslims who piloted hijacked jetliners into New York's Twin Towers, who chop off the heads of individuals and who bomb innocent children in suicide attacks. O'Donnell made her comments as host of ABC's "The View." "Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state," O'Donnell said. She had been saying that America was attacked "not by a nation." She continued: "And as a result of the attack and the killing of 3,000 innocent people, we invaded two countries and killed innocent people." Even her liberal co-hosts were shocked by her comments. Co-host Joy Behar protested that Christians are not trying to impose mass murder on America. "This group (radical Muslims) is threatening to kill us." Replied O'Donnell: "No, but we are bombing innocent people in other countries. True or false?" O'Donnell was saying there is no difference between the radical Muslims who kill in the name of Allah and Bible-believing Christians who follow the teachings of Jesus. Neither O'Donnell nor ABC apologized for the comments. Had she made similar comments about minorities or homosexuals, there would have been an apology, and she would have probably been fired. The message from ABC is that bashing Christians is acceptable, even comparing them with murderers who kill in the name of Allah. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Wow. and... Oh, please. I think the bigger threat on our country is radical lesbians who practice sinful behavior, all the while being touted as a role model and best-friend to children. I think teaching children in this country to tolerate lifestyles and opinions clearly proven to have destroyed civilizations and empires... those that redefine the family from what God intended... are much more damaging than a "religion" that has not wavered from its belief in a Holy God. The problem with people like Ms. O'Donnell is that she counts whackos who claim to be Christians, like Jim Jones, and movements that go against the Bible among Believers. In addition, most people (even those who claim to be Christians) don't know what a Follower of Jesus really is. But, that is probably our own fault. This is why it is so very important to teach our children and live a life where we are learning and recognizing God throughout history - from Creation to today. We must believe what the Bible says - what is actually says, not someone's translation. And, we must ask the Holy Spirit to lead us a we lead our children. This will help us to recognize when we are being deceived. If our children cannot recognize this, how then will they live? They will be just like any other joe, wandering through life with no direction. God has a plan. We must look for it and live it. Homeschooling affords us this opportunity. THANK YOU LORD GOD. Be Blessed! ![]() Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 480 of 595 } { Next Page } |
