I received a comment from agodlyhomemaker:“ i recently have been being led by the Lord to rethink some of my homeschool plans. i was thinking about heart of wisdom so i was thrilled to find your blog. thanks for the input! :) “ Since I have not had much time to blog or comment, let alone think of things to blog (you know I can come up with a blue-million when I am in the shower or trying to fall asleep!), I will post about my experience of what she seems to be going through at this time.Rethinking homeschool plans.... I have done this so many times! I see just what I want to do for homeschool, and then, I see an even better plan, and then another. I get so excited about new ideas and how this could work or just implement some of that.... However, I have found that it is so important to research a plan and pray and ask the Lord for His direction. We definitely cannot just jump right into it. On the other hand, don’t take forever struggling with a change of plans when you know for sure the Lord is leading you to do something different in your homeschool, your child training, your marriage or your home keeping. I think my biggest fears come in when I look at the fact that I have 2 in high school who will be ‘officially’ out of school in the next 2 years. The time factor can be a great pressure that I try to combat with the truth that God says, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”, and “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” It is best put to follow the Lord’s leading. If He is leading you to do some re-thinking, you know you better listen! I am the kind of person who is a great planner and idea-person, but, finding time to implement all I want to do can be quite daunting. I am a notorious “re-thinker”! Yes, that’s me. For this reason, I am thankful that the Lord is helping me to prioritize our lives. When I just go great guns and start implementing all of the new curriculum plans or home keeping plans, etc., my life becomes very overwhelming (how about yours?), but God, my Father, is helping me to slow down and listen and see what He sees that He has for us. For about 3 weeks now - since we started school-time - I have found I have very little time to do things other than school, family and home keeping. I have almost no time to blog or keep contact with online friends at all. That’s ok with me for now - whereas, it may have really irritated me a few months ago- but, in following the Lord’s leading, I am content knowing that I am doing what is necessary for this season in our family. This is another area we have to look at: the seasons of our lives. Currently, we have 2 in high school, 1 in junior high, 2 in elementary, and 2 toddlers. Add to the mix that I am just entering my 2nd trimester, and this is a season we have not faced before. It is definitely a different season than when we moved here 9 years ago, and had 2 elementary ages, a toddler and a 6 month-old. Now, I am starting with Heart of Wisdom plans, whereas, 10 years ago, I used textbooks. As we have grown in the Lord, He has led us to different schools of thought, and along with his Holy Spirit, we are now in a different mindset, hence the different season. For those of you who only have young children, your concerns are obviously different than for those who are homeschooling their last Blessings. I don’t know how that will feel - to have our last child enter their last year on homeschool, but I am sure I cannot begin to understand that season of life. So, what does that have to do with homeschool plans? Well, I can very-well remember starting little Amanda in our first year of homeschool. Like it was yesterday. And now, I am praying and asking direction for her for her junior and senior years of high school. Time waits for no one. The only way we can know what our homeschool plans should be is to ask the Lord and be prepared to listen to His leading. I say all the time in my posts that reading the Bible daily and with your children is of utmost importance... and I must also confess that I do not do it everyday, either, though I am trying to change my habits! The past 4 years have been the most drastic and ever-changing years of homeschooling we have experienced. I am thankful for the growth, and sometimes I want to kick myself for worrying instead of trusting. So, when you feel like you are being led to change your homeschool plans - or re-think them, take note of it and ask the Lord if He put it into your heart. Most likely, if you are His, and you are seeking Him, He did. Let Him lead you. He knows your future and wants you to know to. Since these Little Blessings belong to Him, who better to get the plans from, anyway? Be Blessed! Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 476 of 595 } { Next Page } |
