Homeschool, Stay-At-Home Mom Delights!

****Caleb-7ds15m, sat down in the big, comfy chair with a pumice stone and began to rub his feet - as Jocelyn 2dd15 had done the night before. He was so proud of himself... smiling, laughing and 'scrubbing'.

****Amanda-1dd17 is excited to move onto her next Algebra book and is also looking into Geometry. She's really excited about it. I asked her if she was just wanting to get a bunch of math in or if she had changed her plans, and she said that no, she just wanted to do the math. Imagine that!

****Isaac-6ds3 is, as he explains, "I'm 3, and I'm big 3."  Apparently, that means he doesn't have to wear a coat or shoes outside now that it is 50-60degrees. That's what he said, anyway, as he stood there in his Superman shirt and shorts pj's.

****The leaves on our trees just began to fall a couple of weeks ago, and we have oodles! Rachel-3dd13, Eric-4ds9 and Hannah-5dd6 have had a blast raking -or blowing the leaves into piles and jumping in or burying themselves and each other.
And I don't feel the least bit bad that I have let them play outside in the sunshine for most of the days!

****I made a chocolate cake from scratch for Rachel's 13th birthday yesterday. She then decorated it with the cream cheese frosting she colored with food coloring.

****Amanda-1dd17, Jocelyn-2dd15, and Rachel-3dd13 each submitted (or have written) a short story for the TOS ShortStory Contest. We will be thrilled if they win, but I won't be surprised. If you have read anything they have written, you know what wonderful writers they are.

****I have found that having a Meal Planner for the week - preferably 2 weeks ahead - is a wonderful thing! It helps to plan the grocery list, stop the monotony of meals and gives the cook the freedom to cook without having to ask Mom every day what's for lunch or dinner.

****My mother told me once that her Grandmother baked a pie, a cake and some cookies on 'Saturday' for the week. I thought I would try it and see how it works. I mean, let's face it, I am preparing snacks for our children anyway, and this way, there will be something if I get a call or a visitor dropping in. I am only making 1 cake, though. We do cheese plates and fruit otherwise. It has been easier to have nutritious snacks when they are planned.

****I had a friend ask me one time how long it takes me to work on my blog template. I took an hour or so today -off and on- as I was listing a couple of auctions on Homeschool Buy.  I re-did the photos on the left of our children and updated a couple and changed ages, and also changed my header and some other things. It doesn't really take too long, and I don't do it too often.
Amanda-1dd17
doesn't like the photo I have of her. I think it is beautiful.

****All of the children took turns making Thank You cards, fall cards, bookmarks, and just had a general ink festival. That would be mostly Isaac-6ds3. He had black, then dk. purple hands for a few days after that. The bathroom smelled like alcohol for awhile after Hannah-5dd6 cleaned up the table and some other things... until someone grabbed the cloth and rinsed it out! YU-UCK!

****I am looking forward to getting my photo albums out and sorting pictures to get back into it! I have not scrapbooked in about a year! Jocelyn has been working on Grandpa's & Grandma's photos and has years 1941-1958 completed. WOW! We need to get Grandpa's Service album done. We are having a surprise Open House for their 65th wedding anniversary on the 19th, so we'll see if we get it done. I get to make one more order this week and order what we need!

I hope you are having a great week and great weather.
Be Blessed!

I make our baked goods once a week too. It is always bread or tortillas and unsually cookies and yogurt. Sometimes we stick some pies and cakes in there though. Last week we made 4 apple pies. Today we ate the last one:(

I love menu planning! It makes cooking so much easier! But it's still hard for me to do, because I end up having to switch meals around because DH is hardly ever home at suppertime. And I don't want to have his favorites when it's just me and the boys.

I'm doing Ediets now though and it's awesome, because, they give me my menu, which I can edit and then the recipes and the grocery list. So far we've all liked all the meals I've made with it! And it's wonderful to have all the ingredients for every meal!

I need to be seriously working on albums too. The 17th, I'm having a sleepover scrapbook day with 2 of my friends. Hopfully we'll get a lot done!

on all your young'uns. I hope I get to read the three young ladies' stories that they entered, whether or not they win. I'm sure it would be a delight.

I've been catching up on your blog and your lives, and enjoying your style so much.

Have a happy Thanksgiving to you and all your family.

Carol
