Girly Girls and Manly Boys
I have noticed, since Rachel's most recent birthday, that she is becoming more ladylike, even more into girly-things, etc. It has been fun to encourage her as she is growing, and Tea Time has become a wonderful part of it. We have thoroughly been enjoying hot tea every evening. It is not a habit I grew up with, though we did drink hot tea occasionally. It has been quite the lady's time together after the Littles go to bed that Amanda, Jocelyn, Rachel and I have been able to do this. Their Dad is usually up with us, too, but doesn't partake of the teatime! It is such a gracious and elegant thing to have a beautiful young daughter serve you tea 'just the way you like it'. It is We have let the Littles join in a couple of times during the day, because I think they have felt that it is a special time, and love to each have their own tea cup or mug to mix their honey into their tea. It has been a time of warm conversation and warming up in the cold of the fall season, and between all of the "spring cleaning' we have been doing. We are getting things in order for an appraisal, and a little break for tea as we clean or after cleaning many hours of the day is a real comfort!
On the Manly side of things- Eric is, as I type - out in the cold, digging a 1ft. trnch with daddy to bury the electric wire for the lights to warm the goats. They went into town together to get their supplies to finish what they (along with Jocelyn and Rachel) started a couple of weeks ago. They pulled up the wire, hooked it up into the lower garage and ran it through the attic, drilling, pulling, afixing and all that goes with that. It is as much a joy to see them sharing man's work as it has been to share tea time with the girls. Seeing that bond built as Eric works alongside Daddy to accomplish things for our family and their future strengthens hope. It is just this that is the essence of family, and even moreso, integrating homeschooling. If homeschooling doesn't strenghthen a belief and purpose in our God and also the bonds of family, then I would not feel like we were heading in the right direction. We have come a long way from our expectations and that of the world's to, "What do you want from us, Lord?". What a blessing to be privileged to share work and play, joy and sorrow, teaching and learning with my husband and children! May you be Blessed!
