Regards and Sorrow for Mr. James Kim and His Family
You have probably heard about Mr. Kim and his family, but I want to express regards and sorrow for the family of James Kim who was found dead in the Oregon mountains after searchers looked for over a week for him and his family.
We followed the story on our news nightly, and we were relieved that Mrs. Kim and their daughters were found alive, but sad that Mr. Kim was not.
Mr. Kim was only 35 years old and the very proud father of their 2 young daughters. In reading articles about him, I was also sad to not find anything to the effect of him knowing the Lord in a personal way, but I was happy to read about what a sacrificial husband and father he was.
These articles tell of how he used the gas and heat sparingly, burned the tires for heat and eventually set out for help. It also tells how Mrs. Kim breastfed both of her children after the baby food supplies ran out. Many articles call him a hero, and I agree.
One sad bit of information tells of the fact that the route they chose was closed during the winter, but that fact was not put on certain maps. I found that in a couple of different articles.
Our prayers are with Mrs. Kim and her little girls and friends and family.

The LC SunNews said that Mrs Kim was originally from Las Cruces. Also that the road they turned on was usually gated off during the winter months (after hunting season)....but that someone had broken (or removed) the gate. Sad
