Under-handed Evil in the Public Schools is Not A Surprise

12:27 PM, Friday, January 12, 2007 .. Posted in Are you Wondering If You Should Homeschool .. 6 comments .. Link
Last night, as Matt and I talked about our day, he told me something that had happened a few days earlier that I knew I wanted to share here.
One of the women who work at the P.O. (actually a Supervisor) was astonished to hear dh and a fellow homeschooling father speak of how their children get a spanking before bedtime - or soap in their mouths or other forms of discipline. She was so surprised as they talked that she had to share with them an experience she had with her son, who is of elementary school age. She said that she can't spank him. Not that she doesn't want to spank him, but she isn't allowed to. Her son told her that she can't spank him. If she does, he will call the police on her. They told him to do so in his school. By allowing her child to be under the authority of the local public school system, she (and her husband) has allowed them to take away her authority in their own home.
My husband said there would be no question there. He would take the child out and teach him at home where he could discipline him as he saw fit.
I don't think I need to expound on the ungodliness, evil and audacity the pss has to provocate such rebellion in households all over our country. We see the fruit of it daily in the news. I will recommend a book to you though. - If you can stomache it... and a blog to read, too:
Public Schools, Public Menace, by Joel Turtel
Read a short story,  Mary's Letter To Her Science Teacher (How Public Schools Dumb-Down Our Children),
and:
Home Where They Belong...
I must add as a note that there is a Mom at the P.O. who does homeschool her son. She works part time and homeschools him, letting the Lord lead her in his learning.
It is just appalling what parents and others do not realize is in the pss. We read and hear about things, but to know they blatantly tell children that they can get away with whatever, without fear of retribution, discipline or otherwise is treason against the freedom to parent in this country.
Gena posted a few days ago about a 28yo teacher put on PAID leave for videotaping a girls wrestling matchAmanda's response was "PAID?"
Obviously this is great concern, but is it of more concern than your child being told that you can't spank them, lest they call the police on you? Your parental authority stripped even in your home?  Hmm... So, though I think you should still go and read Gena's blog, I will post my comment here, as it applies.

Jan. 12, 2007 - I Must Say This...
Can you tell me what you would expect a bunch of crocodiles to do if you hang from a rope over a croc-infested river?
    Or, how about:
What do you expect a stadium full of males - young or old - to do or feel when you or your daughter is dressed in a skimpy cheerleading outfit boppin' around, jumping so her skirt flies up, doing cartwheels?
Um, men/boys in wrestling uniforms.... YIKES!
Girls in wrestling uniforms???? A 28 yo male who is around young girls -and boys - with hormones raging all day in a public circus setting? and, we expect - ? self-control?
WHEN will Christian parents realize that we do not need to worry about an enemy seeking whom he may devour when we dangle our children to the world like a dripping piece of flesh?
Reform the pss? Ha! Get them where you can reform their minds. THAT is what you are responsible to reform.
We don't send missionaries to the jungles of Africa to the cannibals as soon as they sign the commitment papers. We train them for years in all aspects of dangers, spiritual authority and the culture which they will be entering. We send money to train missionaries, then we send our children into the jungle unarmed and without authority, wisdom or knowledge.
"Woe be unto those (including parents) who offend one of these little ones which believe in me... it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
    More than...Keep them home....GET A CLUE?
Sorry to sound heartless, but we all do live in the real world. Let's start putting God and our children above our own desires, fears and problems and raise up a Kingly generation for our Savior who gave His Kingly life for our sinful ones.
    It isn't brain surgery.
( ;

Be blessed!  God has given us the means to be exactly that: blessed.

Good comment! Do you know what our church small group leader said Tues. night? (we are the only homeschoolers, with 2 ps teachers in the group). He said "we" are not to be the Holy Spirit and tell others what they should or should not be doing - even adult children.

Isn't it strange that many divorces are happening in the church because one "can't complain" about their spouse to others (used to be called counseling), and we "can't offend" those who have chosen PSchool in the church?

When I read GET A CLUE I just started to laugh because it was so bluntly honest.

Our family personally knows a few people who work for CYS. Children and Youth Services. I was told this- You may spank your child but you may not leave marks. There is a difference between beating a child and spanking them. We might feel like we are not allowed and are brainwashed into thinking we are not allowed but really we are. I would still be leary but I am not so nervous now either. The people I know are higher up in CYS and wouldn't have lied to me.

Beautifully written!

Oh my oh my oh my....(public teacher point of view)

I am an elementary public school teacher. (2nd grade) I am also a conservative christian lady who wears modest dresses only. I have 4 children, and was a sahm until our youngest was in school full time. I have witnessed many things in my time of teaching. (only 7 yrs.) Things that warrent me to homeschool our two left at home. I am blessed to have inlaws as neighbors, and they have my boys (ages 12 & 15) while I teach, then we have school at night and with my inlaws during the day!

I try to instill my Christian values onto my students and their parents to the best I can without (unfortunalely) crossing that line of church and state!

Parents are upset at me for not allowing questionable clothing in my room or pokemon or other evil trading cards into my room. BUT...I still have to follow public school protocol and teach curriculum I may find questionable or inappropriate for certain ages.

I remain a teacher in the public school out of a mission attitude in the hopes that I will make a difference for one child and/or one family...

Thank you, Kelly-

-for your candid and non-argumentative comment!

What a blessing that your children get to know their Grandparents so well.

It is a good thing to take a stand for Godly standards; may you be blessed as you live for the Lord.

I do believe, though, that the pss, as an entity of the gov't is not going to be a Godly entity - ever.
Just like comedy clubs (and the like) aren't going to sign up 'acts' to preach against sin in their clubs. It isn't what the public wants. It isn't their nature to do so. They want to be in control. And, that control does not allow God to be Lord.
It is sad, but that is the world and it's curse.

Thank you for your comments. I appreciate hearing your point of view.
-Jacque
