Walking Therein

I just posted, I'm Sure...

and, it seems like yesterday. Yes, it seems like just yesterday she was a week old. That was a week ago already.
In that week, we have done quite a bit: spring cleaning to prepare for company, including the Suarez family and my Mom and our family friend, Dee.
The Suarez' were only here for a short time, but our children got to challenge each other in chess and spend time with the goats and horses. Levi even tried his hand at milking the goats! They didn't get to do much, because the Suarez's had a long day and a long drive and didn't get in until after 1am. Funny thing was that Mom and Dee weren't expected until the next morning, and they arrived here before the Suarez'.
It worked out, though, because we all got to spend time together. Mom enjoyed getting to sit up with our girls and their boys (and me) as they sat there and told about some silly things that had happened to them - like Amanda getting hit in the head with the rake! And Jocelyn getting hit in the front of the head ... and the back of the head... with the rakes.  It was funny to hear their stories, and I'm glad Mom got to meet friends who we talk to online and on our blogs. We had breakfast in the morning and watched the chess matches. Eric and Julia were outside, climbing trees, while Hannah watched!
Paulie posted about it - AND he has pictures!  ( ;
Luke blogged it too     So did Levi!
Amanda, Jocelyn and Rachel did too.

This week, Amanda learned a lot about training the horses! What a relief to see some headway made through this. And, just in time! Mom and Dee got out there and showed her how to get the saddle on them. They actually got the bit in Estrella's mouth. Wow.
Let's see... what else happened? We got to ooh and ahh over PixieMuffin... Oh, of course, haircuts, all around! Mom is a beautician. She has her own shoppe in Las Cruces, and we are *so* fortunate to get our hair done whenever Mom visits. Jocelyn and I got perms. Well, hers is cur-lee, and mine is just enough to not have to do much with it, without all the curl.
    ...Spend time with the Baby....
Jocelyn, Rachel and Eric got to see their Great-Grandparents who live an hour+ away. The girls had to find hay and alfalfa for the goats and the horses. They need different kinds, so it was a project. Matt decided to get a round bale for the horses. It is huge! It equals 13 bales.
Mom had a special treat for me... she gave me a pedicure! Dee said "When she's done, your feet will feel softer than that baby's bottom!". They did. She used a special, homemade scrub. I picked lime - one of my favorite scents! She said a lady she knows makes the scrub, and she is going to get the recipe... I can't wait to see what is in it.
We took some family pictures  with Mom's camera of all of us. We *never* get around to doing this! I am so glad she was here to do this.
And now, back to Saturday... My Baby is 2 weeks old! You'd think it seemed like longer than a week with all we had to do, but, alas, time flies by too quickly, as you well know!
Well, that's all for now. I have some sleep to catch up on and a baby to enjoy... some more.

Blessings Friends!
-Jacque

We took several pictures (which I will post later, as it is 3am!)

Did your mom give any input on a name for the PixieMuffin? I just can't bring myself to start her afghan until I have a name to pray over! No pressure or anything! LOL! :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!! It's always so great to meet someone new, and a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your precious little bundle of blessed joy!!! She is so beautiful...aren't they all though.
I had recently heard of Hemingway cats (before ours were born) and found it quite intriguing! How neat that we had some. Thanks also for the "Six" suggestions...HOW CREATIVE!!!!!!
Again, it was lovely meeting you.

Hi!

Hi Jacque,

I just wanted to say hello and congratulations on your new baby daughter! I have read some of your older daughters' blogs and can tell they are real blessings to you ( as all of your children are ) and my two older daughters enjoy corresponding with them, as well!

It seems like we have a lot in common - 8 children, a homestead, eclectic homeschooling, a real interest in nurturing our families - and a tendency to stay up too late at night? Also, you had company 2 weeks after having your 8th baby. I did that, too! My littlest son is 10 months old now, but I had company last summer when he was 2 weeks old, and fortunately he slept a lot and would just nurse real well when he was awake, then go back to sleep for 3 hours, ignoring the commotion in the house!

I know you are younger than me, but I do want to encourage you to make sure that you nurture yourself and do those impossible things like get enough rest, don't stress out and get plenty of the right nutrients. I say this because I found this last time that when I was about 3 months postpartum, I was going full speed and wound up with a sinus infection and some postpartum depression (which I had never had before - ever). Good supplements and progesterone cream have helped me physically, and a concious effort to not burn the candle at both ends (that meant trying to get to sleep before midnight instead of 2 am most nights - though lately it has been more like 1am). Of course, it is God who heals, so I just wanted to let you know my experience in the hopes that you don't have to experience that part, too! Take good care!!!

Blessings,

Chris
