Subject: Triplets- Madison Adoption
I have an update. The triplets are not born yet. They are supposedly due in 8 weeks, although the contact feels there is no way the birth mom will go that long. I have been told that they are all girls, but as ultrasounds are often incorrect, I would need the family to be ok with any sex combination. We are bringing the birth mom in for another ultrasound in the next week or two.
This adoption will be through Madison Adoption Associates. We work exclusively with one law firm, and have worked with them for over 20 years. Anyone that has adopted through us from Guatemala will have used the same attorney. Attached is a reference list if you wish to talk to some of our clients.
Given the climate in Guatemala, we would need a family that is HS ready (or almost HS ready). MAA will assist with the dossier, but again we would need to move quickly. If God forbid, Guatemala was to close before these babies were born, obviously, we would not be able to facilitate this adoption. It would be a lose-lose for everyone. However, we are optimistic and praying this will not be the case.
We would want the family who takes the babies to fly to Guatemala to do the POA. This will protect you as you will most likely be grandfathered in if the laws were to change. You would also have a chance to be with your babies. :) Both parents would have to travel for this initial trip.
I am unsure of the cost as our attorneys are currently "talking it out". However, I believe it will be AT LEAST $85,000- $90,000 complete. (FYI- to get one girl home, we estimate the cost in the low $30s) I am attaching a fee schedule for you. All the fees will not necessarily be tripled, but in Guatemala, you are responsible for the cost of fostercare. Also, given the current climate, we would need a family to be prepared for the length of time to be extended. Foster care is $20 per day, so we are talking $60 per day for the 3 babies.
I realize this is A LOT of money and a great deal of responsibility, and with that said, we are looking for a very special family. I am asking for serious inquiries only that knowing all this, would still like to be considered.
If you and your spouse wish to be considered, knowing the expense and climate in Guatemala, please download the Family Information Sheet and return it to me ASAP. We are praying that all goes well and that we will be able to bring these children home to a loving family. I don't even want to think of what would happen should these babies not be adopted out.
Please know I have very limited information at this time, but I will continue to update you if you still wish to be considered. Please also be patient with response time. As I said, I am thrilled about the interest, but am a bit bombarded right now.
Thank you all so much.
God bless,
Diana Bramble
