Walking Therein

Monday, May 7, 2007 - Lucy Has An Official Name, Finally

In honor of her 1 month birthday - yes, she is 1 month old today - we have decided to announce her name - officially, we think. This has been fun - and nerve-wracking, actually. Really, I mean it. Nerve-wracking. I have no idea why naming this beautiful little Babe has been such a problem and a big deal. It never took this long before. It took us 3 days to name Hannah. It took us maybe 3-4 days to name Isaac and Caleb. Maybe.
I know, I know, you have been wondering why it has taken us so long too. Sorry.
I am still hesitant to post her names even now. Maybe I have grown too worried about others' opinions - though I can't imagine that's the case. Maybe it's because Matt is still saying, "Sure, that's fine." instead of, "Yes. That is what I want to name her." He does agree with this, though. Maybe it's because we have too many opinions in this family, because we have more children; that's it.
Her name is...
You know Amanda doesn't like the name Lucy, really. Everyone else thinks Lillie and Lucy are fine. When Paul and Gena et al. came, she decided it would be Lucy. Period. That just strengthened Amanda's decision that she wanted Lillie.
We thought we would have to choose one or the other and come up with a different middle name, so I agreed to Avigail (after vetoing Abigail, I just found another form). So, we were there, deciding, deciding. Asking Matt daily... nightly... in-between-ly. Nothing. No decisions. I said, fine, we'll just go ahead with LucyLillie. We had gotten so used to hearing them together, they sounded natural. Not sure. No YES from Matt. I said, Ok, your Daddy likes Lucy Avigail. That's her name.
Then, Eric N went and said how cute Lucy Lillie was together, and we were back to square one.
    Ooooh. The drama.

Ok... so, here we are. Here name is:
        Lucy Lillie Avigail
Lucy means light - also Grandma Dixon's name.
Lillie means lily - as a remembrance for her birth before Resurrection Sunday and that of her Savior and His sacrifice!
Avigail means My Father's Joy - though I must say she is definitely her Mother's Joy, also!!!
Yes, that's 3 names. We realize that. We'll probably call her Lucy Lillie, anyway. Amanda will probably call her Lillie Lucy, haha.
I think it only fitting to give her 3 names, since she has waited so long for her official name!

Monday, May 7, 2007 - Naming baby

Posted by SimpleAtHeart
2 of our last 4 babes have come home from the hosp. without official names. I`ve never been too bothered by it, as I`ve always said that they were never named in hast, and so much thought and love went into deciding upon just the right name!! Your baby`s name sounds delightful, and I imagine it suits her appearance and personality just perfectly !!
God Bless,
Lisa

Glad you found something. Hope it feels final! I've had pets I never did name, 'cause I couldn't decide. You should copy down these blogs and put them in a scrapbook for her! She'll know how truly special and important her naming was.

Congratulations on finalizing a name for you sweet baby girl. My little girl has three names as well. We waited 20 months to name her! Actually, we couldn't officially name her prior to her adoption finalization. She was placed with us when she was one month old and for the longest time we called her "Little Missy!" We had a pretty good idea what we wanted to name her early on, but we were undecided on a middle name as we wanted to some how incorporate one of her birth names into her new name. Anyway, I can relate to waiting to solidify a name for a child! Have a blessed day!

Well, finally!! It took a month!! ;-)

That's really pretty. I love how you changed Abigail to Avigail. I've never heard it before, but I like the sound of v better than the b. The same with Deborah and Devorah, Gabrielle and Gavrielle...

Congrats again!!

Sylvia

Wow! What fun drama! :)
I haven't had a problem figuring out a name, my husband if very opinionated on what we name our children and we usually spend the whole 9 months going over name after name and coming up with a perfect boy name and girl name so we have one for either. But I'll be honest, if I was having #8, I could see myself having a harder time finding the perfect name!
So anyway, glad you all came to an agreement! :)
