Books We Are Still Using and LapBooking Video
We learn all year-round, so we aren't getting ready to end our school session for the summer. Books we will continue this summer are:
Saxon Math 5/4 and 8/7
Saxon Algebra 1 & 2
A Unit Study I am finally starting with Amanda, Jocelyn and Rachel:
And another gem I remembered I have:
The Handbook of Nature Study by Anna B Comstock
This has questions on the different animals and plants, etc. already in there! It also has photos, diagrams, poetry.
I am choosing some topics to lapbook for our children. We did the Old Testament a bit, but that was before I realized I *really do* need some type of coloring sheets or handouts... maybe a little more experience would have helped... the video below, maybe!!
I know Eric has really been into C.S. Lewis, and literally *anyone* could do one on LOTR here. I have wanted Amanda to put together a binder of all she has learned with the horses... and Jocelyn with the goats. This would be a great time to do some "sample" lapbooks, huh??
Let me leave you with this video I found at genamayo's blog
***************************************************
It is only 6:23 long. You have to view this. This lady has the greatest lapbook ideas! It will make you want to sit down and do a lapbook right now!!
Watch it with your children, so they can get an idea of what you are talking about and how really fun it looks. (Did you notice she is in her garage?? How fun to throw open the garage door and just do school outside!)
Please take the time to look at this. I was truly impressed! Do *you* have a picture show or video of your own lapbooking creations?? I would LOVE to see them!
Leave the URL of the post in the comments section.
Blessings my friends!!

My sister has been working all week on her lapbook on the state of Florida (we are going there this summer). Every time she adds something to it she comes in my room and shows it to me!! Most of my siblings are really got with creative hands-on crafts like that. They're very artistic, but I think I missed that gene. ;-) I prefer to write an analysis essay...but that's just another thing I loved about homeschooling. You can conform to your children's styles of learning.
My mom also does a lapbook every year for her 4th grade Sunday School class that I help out in. It's a great teaching tool!!! And most of the kids enjoy it.
I'll show my mom the video. :-)
Regards,
Sylvia
