Ok, so today on my homestead, I am moving at a snail's pace. My blogging is moving at a snail's pace. On the other hand, I, am moving, moving, moving. So far, as I type, I have: rescued Caleb after he fell in the tub while trying to fill a cup with water, helped Eric make grilled cheese for lunch, taught Isaac how to fold Lucy's clothes and put them in her top drawer... ok, without further adeiu, I present to you my own homesteading carnival. I had 5 submissions, the rest I scavenged. Ok, we will call them Editor's Choice. I being the Editor, the great posts being great choices!! lol
I'll start with a post I scavenged, er, chose, from Christine Read at Nurturing the Generations. I love to read her posts. They are a family of 10 and run Fair Hill's Farm. She talks about the goals she made out a few years ago for homeschooling and child raising in her post, Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the rain!. * LOL... and,as I finished this EC, her daughter, Amanda, IMed me and sent me the link for this same post!*
If you just want to relax and see what a cozy summer day on the homestead is like, you will enjoy the photos on Chas's latest post on My Cup Runneth Over, What A Wonderful Day. She and hubby had a lovely day with their children, reading books and making a chicken blockade.
Leslie from Raise the Cup! and Journey to Simplicity writes about Recognizing Chaos on the Front Porch. She lets in a little secret about how important it is for you to recognize the chaos. If this goes on for a week, it's no big deal. It happens. What is important is that you realize it is not going smoothly and make a plan to come back to simplicity.
IN THE GARDEN
Jocelyn, the Country Girl At Heart, tells about planting their garden and all the different things they learn around their homestead in We Don't Take Days Off.
Anne're asks How Does Your Garden Grow? in her post that includes great pictures of her garden and how she has protected them from foraging little creatures.
IN THE KITCHEN
Sprittibee shares her delicious recipe for Apple, Pecan & Celery Salad at Gathering Manna, her recipe blog. You will also find her recipe for The Coolest Cake Pan on the Planet. I will have to try that and let her know if I think it is the coolest cake on the planet!
Granny G of Laughingstock Farm tells all about what to do with all that zucchini in Zucchini, the Love of the Green. I can't even tell you the names of all of the recipes, because there is a whole list about "a mile long"! Go check them out. There has to be at least, oh, 5 you will love!
Gerald at Shedding Notes talks about a family tradition since he is from a large family in his post How I Started Canning. "I was one of nine children and my dad was one of thirteen children. My dad came up during the great depression and his family had to get a lot of their food from the land so they would plant garden seeds like corn, beans, potatoes, etc. because if they didn't then they would go hungry."
One of the beauties of living out in the country is all of the beautiful foliage, whether it is plants, flowers or weeds. Amy of Real Life has some very nice photos of the Wildflowers in her area.
IN THE HOBBY ROOM
Whether it's your hobby to build things or necessity, you will enjoy looking at The House That Poppie Built #2. Marmee posts that Building a house yourself is a lot of work!
Christina has a hobby that she not only loves, but shares and uses to literally bless families with! She prays for the new Little blessings as she crochets baby afghans. Take a look at some of her handiwork as she is Spinnin A Yarnat The Perils of Parenting and Other Ponderings.
Amanda has had her horses for 4 months now and had several setbacks as well as victories. She gives information for any questions you may have in her post, All You Need to Know About Horses.
Learn about diatomaceous earth and its properties at Seeking Rest on the Homestead in My Goatie Has Fleas... Can You Say Diatomaceous Earth. Diatomite is also used as an insecticide Its absorbent qualities make it useful for spill clean-up and the U.S. Center for Disease Control recommends it to clean up toxic liquid spills, and has been employed as a primary ingredient in a type of cat litter.
HANDY TIPS
If you just want to find a handy tip or new recipe, keep The Front Porch on the top of your list of sites to visit!
Well, we didn't get a chance to look for it on Monday anyway, so I just got to read the CoH tonight! Thanks for the post on my husbands Canning adventures. We'll sit down together sometime over the next two-four days and type out another one for next week. I'm so happy that you had a nice visit with the Suarezes, it's always exciting to read the stories about your time with them.
The scoop on me: Believer for 20 years; married 19 years; 8 children so far, hoping for more; live on a great hobby farm, with 7 goats, 2 dogs and 68 chickens. Oh, and 1 bathroom. That's always fun. :)
The scoop on our homeschool: Bible-first, Living Learning Moments, meaning if it happens, it's a lesson. We learn life! How long have we been homeschooling? Well, our oldest is 18. How much longer do we have to go? Well, our youngest is almost 1. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
Jeremiah 6:16
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.
Adam walked in the Garden with God. He talked with him. God was his companion. Yet, that did not complete man. God's plan was different. Even as Adam walked with God, God saw a need in his new creation. God met that need with a woman.
Genesis 2:18 And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
Let us turn from the current 'pop-culture-christianity' society we live in and get back to the Word.

Keep their hearts. If you don't have their hearts, take note and re-capture their hearts!
Don't let the seeds sown by the ideal of today's youth culture ruin the glorious plans God has for your child.
Satan wants him. Your child is a jewel in Christ's crown, and satan wants him. Train him as such.
You want him more. So does the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6:1-13
1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:
2 That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
3 Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.
4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart:
7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
10 And it shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not,
11 And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full;
12 Then beware lest thou forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
13 Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name.
1 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth
what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever. Amen.
