God Has Blessed Us Online

I was so very pleasantly surprised the other day when Jocelyn came in to give me my cell phone, cupping her hand over it, saying, "It's for you.... just take it.... come on."
Let me tell you something you probably don't know about me. I hate surprises. Now, I have had some very sweet surprises in my life, but most of the time I just hate being surprised. Maybe it's because I usually have to fight to not find out the surprise before I get it!! And, God gave me my last surprise, which was Caleb... I really thought that boy was going to be a girl. Oh BOY, was I wrong!
But, I digress.... this was a really great surprise. And she even kept it from me, too. Wow.
Ok... do you want to know now? I got a phone call from a blogger friend who lives far enough away that I may never meet her. We have emailed, sent each other things... she made LucyLillie the most beautiful afghan... but, I never thought about calling her - silly me! Ok, who am I kidding? I don't call people much. I'm more likely to email or IM.
So, Jocelyn, knowing that this would warm my heart, PMed QuietCajun and gave her my cell phone number. So, here she is, standing before me, telling me, "Come on Mom... take it...." with Amanda standing next to her with a big grin on her face. Hmmm... she looked like a little puppy dog trying to convince me (sorry Jocelyn!), what else could I do but believe her??
Needless to say, I was SO THRILLED!! So very thrilled. Christina sounded just like I thought she would.... Isn't that funny? Don't you have a voice that you think would suit people you know online? Or, maybe what they look like? Then you see a picture, and you're like, "Wow, didn't think she'd look like that" - or, "Yep, that's exactly what I thought she'd look like!"
Gena, on the other hand, didn't sound like I had imagined... though her sister, Jen, did.  I actually got to meet them IRL, though, not just talk on the phone! We went to a homeschool meeting and met Paul and Gena, so I hadn't talked with her beforehand. Then there's TNMOMTOMANYBLESSINGS, Maria, who I also got to meet. She is such a sweet woman. Great. Like I said, it's funny how you picture people, and then you meet them and they are different but the same. I only spent a little bit of time with Maria, but I would love to just sit and chat with her for awhile over a cuppa'.

I've spoken with Canadagirl on the phone, too, and I guess I hadn't thought about what she would sound like before that. She has an accent, but she lives in Canada, so I probably have one to her, too! I have spoken many times to my good friend Amber, and she sounds just like I expected her to. I recently had spoke to Jill Novak on the phone. We talked about so many wonderful things from family to art to, well, family. She sounds like you'd expect... gentle, fun, happy.

I received a phone call from England last year about this time from Page, all the way from ENGLAND! Matt was on his way down to Dad's in southern Indiana, so Jocelyn *was* really jealous!! She's all about England, you know!
I was flabbergasted. Really. Almost as flabbergasted as I was when I got on the phone and Christina told me who she was. Wow!!!
I also received another call from a lady in Canada who didn't blog at the time, but she read my blog and thought she'd give me a call. Very nice lady. Also like-minded. We spent some time talking about children and cloth diapers. You know, all I can say is... who is this person I see in the mirror everyday? To deserve such love from all these sweet people. What fun to talk to friends I 'know', but have never met! Not to mention the friends I have never met, but I have the privilege of emailing. Then there's Instant Messaging. This whole blogging thing is so very wonderful.
Ok, now I have started a list, and I almost feel committed to remember everyone... I know I will forget someone, so, just let me know I forgot you and I will add you in!! Please let me know. Really. You all are just like family, so it's just natural to talk to you via email or the phone.
And, now, back to my story... What can I say about talking to Christina? We are like-minded. We have children the same ages. We talked about so many things. Sheesh... we were on the phone for a couple of hours, I think. She is a very good friend; a great wife. Her heart is just sweet, and she is a wonderful example of the Lord and His Word. Ok... She is real. You can know a person really well just from reading their blog, and even better when you email or IM, but talking to them IRL just cements it all. Being able to speak what you think and hearing what they have to say, the "feeling" in their voice, right then is an endearing experience. So, in other words, I liked you before Christina... now you'll never get rid of me... hahaha.
So, what's next?? Hopefully one of us will get close enough to the other to actually meet. Won't that be a story?
Won't that be FUN?

I was tagged by a blogger friend, so I am going to go check that out now... If you go over and check it out, you are officially tagged by me, so leave me a comment if you do it! I was also tagged by three other friends.

Hi Jacque,
I missed this post somewhere probably because my internet server was being upgraded and I couldn't get around the net too well. I was also pm-ing to other moms last night. I've wanted to call you on the phone, especially about my niece, but I get nervous about asking, otherwise I would have. Yes, Jill does a very sweet voice, I'd talked to her prior to hearing her on the workshop a few weeks ago.
