Saturday Psalm & Praise
Today, I have chosen a Psalm. Last week, I chose a song that I was singing, even today, as I sat with Lucy or Caleb. I sang it as I said some prayers. Songs that speak of our God or our Savior touch us in a deep way, because they remind us over and over what God has done for us, and what Jesus did and how He lived.
Psalms are the same way. They show us who God is, what He has done in the past, and how the writer felt when he was crying out to or praising God.  Psalms speak of God's victories, His judgments, and His mercies. Psalmists give us hope when we are down and examples of God's grace and destruction when we are sinful.

As I searched the Bible for a Psalm, I read over many praises, sorrow, and requests. There are many Psalms that we do not realize include lyrics to some of our favorite worship songs today.
Psalms includes: Prayers of Repentance, Prayers against the oppression of the enemy, prayers for God's People, Praise of God the Sovereign Savior, Songs about the wicked, Prayers of Restoration. There are pleas for deliverance and mercy, Praises to the LORD Our Creator.
As I slowed down and took the time read over several of them, I realized the meat of the Word that is in Psalms. God is in Psalms. Jesus is in Psalms. The Holy Spirit is in Psalms. We can cry out to God in our pain, our anger, our humiliation. We can fully expect God to judge righteously and and mercifully, even when we believe we deserve deliverance and the offender deserves retribution.
I was in correspondence today with a friend, and I felt all the sudden like we Christians just don't understand. God is God. Period.  We go through "trials" and we are so devastated that God would allow a little bit of something to come our way and spoil our plans. I have no patience with this. Then there are the true times of suffering in our lives where we cry out to God for helaing and deliverance, only for things to again turn out differently. But, Who are we to question God? I am not saying "Don't question God," because I think that is part of humanity that God understands. And, yet, why do we question Him? I mean, how many times have you heard - or said - Why Me, God? Well, why not you? Why not me? Do I have the corner-market on God's full grace and constant protcetion? Am I the golden child? certainly not.
If men like Paul and David and Jesus had trials and heartaches, then surely I will too.  We expect He will protect us and keep us from all harm and make our ways smooth. That is not always the way it is. The Apostle Paul had a long hard road of taking Jesus to the lost. He was put in prison. He was stoned. He was beaten. There have been times in my life that I just want to crawl under a rock and die there. There have also been times when I wanted to pick up the rock and throw it at someone. Real Christ-like, huh?  Psalmists understand and sing about these feelings. They allow us see how there is nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)Here is a Psalm that Praises a Holy God from the beginning to the end.  When I read it, it not only reminds me of the worship song that has come from it, but also the vastness of God's Holiness and the total reliance we must have upon Him.

1O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
4He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
6Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.
9The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong unto God: he is greatly exalted.
Be blessed!

Hey Jacque~

I did another Saturday P&P but I did another song! I'm a singing fool, I guess. I used to do concerts all over the southeast when I was younger and my dad was living. I just sing all the time and when I feel like I don't know the words I need to pray then I sing too. If I picked a Psalm then it would be Psalm 100 - Praise of Thanksgiving! I have next weeks already in my notepad waiting, but as always, God speaks volumes louder than my fingers tapping on this keyboard! My meme is up and ready for all to view. I've been having this thought about doing a meme for Sunday...God isn't finished with me yet~ Thank you!
