Cookies - A Moment in the Day of A Homeschool Mom

3:26 AM, Wednesday, August 8, 2007 .. Posted in Seeking Rest in Heart and Home .. 10 comments .. Link
Here I am sitting at the computer at 3:30 in the morning again... my quiet time. Really. The last straggler just went to bed a bit ago. Ok, so she's 17. But, still. And, actually, it's not quiet, because the a/c is on and I have a semi-sleeping little 4month old on my lap. But, it's quieter than usual.

What do I do in times like this? Well, as I walked in here after picking up the Little Raspberry Pixie Muffin, I noticed the rabbit in the cage in the office (read: room where the computers are). That led me to notice the dried grass and clover all over... on the floor, in the boxes of books next to the table the cage is setting on. My thoughts: I love homeschooling. I love having all of these fabulous children!
oops.... brb...

ok, back. Caleb woke up and was coming down the stairs. Not to worry, I woke Rachel up, who had fallen asleep on the couch after making a batch of midnight peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies and sent her upstairs. Caleb was fluffing his pillow on the couch as I grabbed Rachel's latest read: Archimedes and the Door of Science, from off the couch. And I walked back into the office... hmmm, I would venture to guess that Isaac didn't really let that grasshopper back outside after emptying him from his little lock-box, because something very light green just flew past me and around and around as I re-entered the room.
I love homeschooling all these little guys!

And I can hear little Caleb standing behind me now. I guess that fluffed pillow just wasn't inviting enough. He is standing right behind my chair. And, as I turn to look, to get up and put Luc in her bassinet, LOLOLOLOL... really, OUT LOUD - I even woke Lucy up. There is little Babyboy, standing close up behind my chair, with a sweet little smile on his sweet little face... His sweet little chocolate chip-covered-face!! LOL!  I laughed, and he laughed, and I laughed more, and he just grinned. So, what else is a Mom to do at 3:50am, with a laughing little boy, face all covered in chocolate chip and a now awake Little Raspberry?
What else? I went to the kitchen and poured us a mug of organic cow's milk to share with our peanut butter chocolate chip cookies!

I'd better go now, though... I have a cookie to dunk and, besides that, Caleb is pushing one of the wooden captain's chairs over to the bassinet... to share his cookie with his favorite baby sister, no doubt! Better get her over here to talk to him!
Did I mention that I love homeschooling all of our sweet children?

blessings! -Jacque

All I can say is you function WAY better than I do at 3:30 AM!!! But I do feel better about my family's late bedtimes now. What time do you get up in the morning?

What a precious picture that is!

Last night I got a comment from Amanda at about 10PM my time and I just laughed thinking that she would probably be up for another couple hours! I guess you even had her beat! :)

How sweet! I don't know how you do all these late nights! Do you sleep in late? If I lived closer (a lot closer) I'd come have some of the yummy cookies and milk!

Hope you have a blessed day!

I think I would be a little less jolly at 3:30 in the morning, although I can't say a lot, as it is 1am here, and the little ones are still up....youngest is coloring, oldest is letting the rabbit out to play....should get them to bed, but is fun to spend all this time with them!!!

I love your blog, and plan on visiting again, as well as visiting some of your other family blogs!!

I was up at midnight, 3am and back to bed at 4:30am this morning taking care of Tank's horrendous cough. He was a preemie and has had allergy/asthma issues for quite some time, usually triggered by cold, fever or severe allergies.

I am so very thankful that I have them home with me, all day every day, so *I* can be the one to take care of him! And if this were on a weeknight, we wouldn't have to fret about having to be out the door for the 8am schoolbell either.

I am blessed!

Marsha-- who could really go for some cookies right about now!
