Fun Toddler Tip

Get a chalkboard!

A regular-sized wall board chalkboard and plenty of chalk are a great way to keep those Littles busy! Sidewalk chalk works best, and you can probably still find some during this season. I can get the chalkboard out and draw a line down the middle and let the Littles go at it! Get 2 if you need 2 so they have plenty of space to draw.

It's also great for the Middlers/Olders to get out and play Hangman with the Littles! They can have the Littles guess the letters and even the toddlers will learn their letters as they hear the letter guessed and see it written on the board!

It is especially helpful as you teach the older children and need to let the Littles do something
to keep them occupied, messy, and just plain fun!

Our children got our board out  couple of weeks ago and started playing it on their own. What fun Daddy and I had as we watched and listened to our children of all ages playing and learning together!!

blessings!
Jacque

That sounds like so much fun! My dad pulled a big whiteboard out of a dumpster a couple weeks ago, and everyone has had fun playing pictionary and hangman on it. The little kids love drawing pictures and practicing their letters on it. It is a great thing to have!!

That sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately, there aren't any Littles or Middles left in our family. *sigh*

My kids loved writing on the chalkboard! We used the Hygae dustless chalk-- a lot less messy than the regular. The only thing is that it doesn't come fat like the sidewalk chalk, so it breaks. But on the bright side of a broken piece of chalk, it's a good way to teach them how to hold a writing utensil correctly. There are only so many ways to hold a itsy bitsy piece of chalk!

We have graduated to the dry erase board but have already had to repaint part of a wall. By the way, a Magic Eraser does NOT get dry erase marker off of a wall. *sigh* I think I need to find the big chalkboard for my littlest man... and soon!

Chalk has held my rapt attention for hours on end. The way that it seems to make what you want, and then at a little pressure snap and rune you whole drawing is very interesting to me. When the girls have that chalk board out I still doodle on it from time to time. Who said chalk is just for little kids? ;)
