When You Give A Homeschool Mom... A Comment

4:55 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 .. Posted in Seeking Rest in Heart and Home .. 7 comments .. Link

We have had such a wonderful past week. Amanda had the best birthday ever, and we were all blessed by it. Thank you to all of you, our friends -online and IRL, for making it so fun and such a sweet memory. Thanks Jocelyn and friends for all of your hard work to make it a great surprise!

Since I have not been able to get all of that together, I have been able to touch base with you. Leaving comments is a luxury for me, and maybe this will tell you why! I tried to leave some last night, but sleep got the better of me, so I tried today. Here is what became of it:

If you leave a homeschool blogger mom a comment, she will most likely be blessed by it and have to go to your blog and reciprocate it.

When she goes to your blog, she will get interested in all the wonderful posts you wrote (because she has most-likely found a kindred spirit) and have to read through a bunch of them.

As she is scrolling through them, she will find a How Cluttered is Your Mind? quiz on your blog, and she will have to open it and complete it for herself.

When she asks herself why she is here, taking this quiz, she remembers she didn't leave you a comment yet, and she will right click the Back browser arrow and return to your blog.

When she gets back to your blog, she will start to scroll up and see the spelling quiz you also have in your sidebar and play with that for 15 minutes to see how good of a speller she really is.

When she finds out how neat this little gadget is, she will decide she wants it on her own sidebar and will go to dictionary.com to get it.

While she is there, she will find the nifty feature -the Hangman game- and after playing it herself, she will call her Littles over to play it with her (Spelling, don't you know).

When she has played it with them for another 20 minutes, she decides to put their attention to good learning, and she has them pull out their math for the day, because, you know, it is 1pm.

While she helps them with their addition, she remembers your post on 7 Facts About Me, and when they are finished, she goes back to your blog to read them.

While she is there, she sees that you had posted about a Yankee Candle giveaway, and, who doesn't love free stuff - and candles?

She again clicks off your blog and goes to the giveaway site to enter in the giveaway. While at the giveaway site, she finds some other giveaways she wants to enter.

She blogs about all of these giveaways, and when she goes to link you, she remembers she has still not commented on your blog! (Really... many of you wonder why I don't return comments... this is why!)

As she is doing all of this, she will realize how one thing leads to another and get this idea to write all about it, and voila! - she has a post for today! So, she starts writing up all of the things she has done while she was at your blog, and she goes back to see if she left anything out.

While she is there - again!- she sees the comment button, and realizes she still hasn't left you a comment. She leaves you a comment, knowing that it is now up to you to finish this story.

Thank you Angela, for your encouraging comment - and to my other friends as well, who for some strange reason, keep coming back to read! You are all bright shining lights in my days. Truly you are. Your comments are priceless, and I am thrilled to be of such an encouragement. Homeschooling truly is life, and sometimes life is hard... so we must encourage each other! I hope this gives you a good laugh for your day. By the time I finished, I think LucyLillie had been awake and asleep 3 times... It should also give you a little sight into my days, haha.

blessings! -Jacque

Sounds just like me! I usually can't resist all those little add-ons - but this time I did, and commented first...........now what shall I do next?

Must tell you, my son now has his own HSB blog - his user name is littlesmurf (what else could it be?!!).

That is so funny... I totally understand!!

I will end up somewhere doing something and then I will wonder "How did I get here?" Too funny!!! Sooo common!!

I too do a LOT more reading than commenting due the tangled web it weaves!!

Too funny, Jacque! This sounds so much like me, always being sidetracked on "something shiny"! It's amazing that I get anything done at all :)

Blessings to you!
Christy

Thanks,
