Ok, my friends, have you gotten your copy of the next discussion book for the HSB Literary Club? We will be discussing The Hedge of Thorns originally by John Carroll and completed by John Hatchard. I just posted a description of the book and also a place for you to sign up and let me know you will be joining us.
Amanda is going to be moderating the discussion with me, and I am sure you will find this is going to be a great time for homeschooling. Reading, discussion, learning... isn't that why we do it? You can read this by yourself or you can have your children read it with you or you can read it to/with you aloud as a family reading time. It is up to you. The Lamplighter catalog lists it as "Best for Boys and Girls" starting at age 9. I know that Hannah, 7 will sit and listen, as will Isaac, age 4, so tailor it to your family!
We will be looking into the themes from the story itself in the discussion, as well as posting on some history and other 1600's era information in separate posts. The book is available through the Old Schoolhouse Store:

Argh...I doubt I'll be able to borrow the book. If I really want to do this I'll have to buy it, which is hard, because I hate to buy things. I'll ask my parents.
