Saturday Psalm & Praise: Psalm 119
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
Psalm 119
1Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
2Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
4Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
7I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
8I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
9Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
We watched Amazing Grace tonight. The plot seems like a simple part of history: "The idealist William Wilberforce maneuvers his way through Parliament in 19th century England, endeavoring to end the British transatlantic slave trade." In truth, it is a much deeper testimony to HIS-story.
This man, who happens to be a member of British Parliament is asked, after becoming totally wrapped up in the Creation of God and considering leaving the direction of his present life, "Did you find God?" and answers truthfully, "I think He found me."
Truly, was God ever lost? No. We are. And when we are 'found' by Him, awakened to His Word and plan for our lives, it takes hold of us like nothing we have ever known. It is a passion.
This man, with a bright future ahead of him must choose to serve God or to stay in the life he knows and make decisions as a new man. Can he do both? Certainly God chose him and gave him a passion.
I think, if he found the above verses, he can.
God is gracious to give us His Word and His Spirit. I believe Psalm 119 is a prayer of faith in a God who can fulfill it. We can try as we might to live a good life, free of sin, but we can only do it with God. Only He can complete us. But we can do our part: vs. 7, I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments, and verse 11, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
I offer this as a praise to the One True God. I offer it as a blessing to you, LORD. I thank you for these verses that show me I can be who you created me to be and I am dependent on you for that also. Praise you, LORD.
blessings! -Jacque

YOU WROTE:

MY COMMENT:
Thank you for speaking this truth! We watched this movie again last night as well, too funny! I wondered as I watched it how many people would REALLY see and embrace the truth you just mentioned! So many want a part to play their salvation, the truth is it is ALL of God!
Have a blessed weekend!
Hi Jacque...
This post is right on with what God is saying to me lately too. Have a blessed weekend.

Sometimes as new believers we feel like we HAVE found God. Like He was hiding. But like you said- WE were the blind ones.
Lately I have been praying Psalm 119. There are times when you need this prayer to voice your heart in a way that you cannot do alone. I am in a time like that.
I hope your time of giving thanks is truly blessed and special.

We watched Amazing Grace last night too.
I haven't decided whether or not to let the boys see it b/c the woman's clothing is rather... um... revealing, but I would like Kaitlyn to see it.

I haven't been able to come by in a little while and I'm glad that I stopped by today. I've been having a bad week, and this was special to read.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
