I loved to sing this song. It was one of my absolute favorites. It is called Mercy Seat by Vicki Yohe. It is about the Tabernacle of God. It is about finding His mercy nowhere else. God is a God who loves us immensely. He is also a God to fear. He holds our future in His hands, and this is not a glib thing. It is not something to take lightly, "Oh, yeah, I got saved about ten years ago. Of course I'm saved. So what if I can't spend time with God; He understands. I am a very busy woman."

Mercy Seat

He said we could come to Him. We can come running. He desires us to come into his awesome and terrible presence. It does not matter if we are depressed; it doesn't matter if we are joyful. It matters that we bring it to him and pass His love around.
We cannot do that on our own. We must look to Him. I read the words to this song, and I truly feel like a helpless, unimportant fool who desperately needs to cry out to God and serve Him wholeheartedly.
To be able to "come running" to the Mercy Seat, they had to build it. God gave very detailed instructions on its design, and where to put it when it was finished. It was to "set above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee."
It was a place for us to meet with God, as He intended:

22And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Exodus 25:17-22

17And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof.

18And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

19And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof.

20And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be.

21And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee.

22And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Psalm 115:1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake.
