Walking Therein

Sunday, March 9, 2008 - Saturday Psalm & Praise: Press On

I did not post Saturday Psalm & Praise yesterday. The week has gotten away from me, and that is ok. The Lord is fully in control, and we are walking in it as best we can. I have not missed praise songs, though. Amanda got herself a player on her blog, and she set me up an account too. She wrote an interesting piece yesterday about worship songs, piano music and Christian music today, entitled, A New Appreciation. There are few songs I will listen to that I used to, but I did find some songs to put on the player Amanda put on my blog. We had fun looking and listening to the different versions together.

The first one we looked for was Amazing Grace, because it has become our theme song over the past three weeks, and little Caleb knows almost all the words to four verses. Even Lucy hums along with us. Another favorite is this one, by Selah. Press On. I do not believe the walk of the Believer is supposed to be easy. Jesus walked a hard walk; the hardest of all men to ever live. He steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem and pressed on.
Luke 9:51
And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem...

Sometimes, we have to do that: Press On. Sometimes it is not about things being the way we hope or wish or even pray. Sometimes it is God strengthening and growing us, walking through the valleys and shadows and up the mountains with us. Sometimes we must take his hand and just Press On. This is life, not Hollywood. We must set our eyes on Jerusalem, where that cross is, and Press On. And know God is there, walking with and even going before us.

Press On by Selah
When the mountain is steep
when the valley is deep
when the body is weary
when we stumble and fall

When the choices are hard
when we're battered and scarred
when we've spent our resource
when we've given our all

In Jesus name we press on
In Jesus name we press on
dear lord, with the prize
clear before our eyes
we find the strength to press on

Dear Lord, with the prize
clear before our eyes
we find the strength to press on

In Jesus name we press on
In Jesus name we press on
Dear Lord, with the prize
clear before our eyes
we find the strength to press on
we find the strength to press on
to press on

If you would like to listen to Press On, it is on my player below.

blessings!

I am soooo sorry it has taken me forever to comment back! I have never heard of Selah, but that song is beautiful! I really like it :)

How is Caleb doing lately??

God has been answering our prayers about my grandmother! I appreciate them, and so does my mother. My grandma is healing so well. She is driving and it's not even two weeks since her surgery. She still needs the Lord though. Sigh. I will pray for your grandparents as well.

I wear skirts all the time so the challenge really isn't hard for me ;) But it's been fun taking pictures and getting feedback about it.

OK well I better end this comment before it gets tooooooooo long :)

When I found out I needed surgery a friend prayed with me on the phone. She prayed about lifting me from the valley and I was instantly calmed--because I blogged about valleys! It all came back to me how faithful God is to teach us in valleys.

Thank you for the encouragement and beautiful comments Jacque. I agree, blog friends are wonderful!

Your playlist is great too.
I'm sorry that Caleb has been so sick. How awful for all of you.

I appreciated your post on convictions. It saddens me how the church has been affected by the post-modern culture. Never grow weary in carrying out your convictions, the Lord will reward you!

Blessings,
Linda

About Me

The scoop on me: Believer for 20 years; married 19 years; 8 children so far, hoping for more; live on a great hobby farm, with 7 goats, 2 dogs and 68 chickens. Oh, and 1 bathroom. That's always fun. :) The scoop on our homeschool: Bible-first, Living Learning Moments, meaning if it happens, it's a lesson. We learn life! How long have we been homeschooling? Well, our oldest is 18. How much longer do we have to go? Well, our youngest is almost 1. We love it and wouldn't have it any other way.
