Saturday Psalm & PraisePsalm 40

 1I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

 2He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

 3And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.

 4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

 5Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

 6Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.

 7Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,

 8I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

 9I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

 10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

 11Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

 12For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

 13Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

 14Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.

 15Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha.

 16Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

 17But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.

Saturday Psalm & Praise: Psalm 4

10:39 PM, Saturday, April 5, 2008 .. Posted in Saturday Psalm and Praise Meme .. 1 comments .. Link
Saturday Psalm & PraiseOh how easily sin does come upon us and into our minds. And to our hearts. How easily frustrated are moms and how quickly we can lose heart. But our strength does not come from ourselves alone.  It comes from Our Lord and our husbands. It comes from quiet times in worship and communion with God. It comes from reading and knowing and trusting in His Word.

 1 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

 2 O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

 3 But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

 4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

 6 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

 7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

 8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Saturday Psalm & Praise - Take Me Into the Holy of Holies

7:40 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2008 .. Posted in Saturday Psalm and Praise Meme .. 0 comments .. Link

Praise be to God the Father. He is a merciful and terrible God, and I praise Him!

Nehemiah 1:5
And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:

Saturday Psalm & PraiseI have really been enjoying the songs on my player here on my blog. (Though I may need to find a different hoster). I love worship music. I am not at all big on just music. One song that has really blessed my soul lately is Take Me In.

Hebrews 10:19

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

TAKE ME IN (To The Holy of Holies)

Verse:

Em  Take me past the outer courts

CM7   And through the holy place

D   Past the brazen altar

Em D   Lord, I want to see Your face

Em   Pass me by the crowds of people

CM7   And priests who sing their praise

D   I hunger and thirst

For Your righteousness

Am7 C/D   But it’s only found one place

Chorus:

Em D/E   So take me in - to the Holy of Holies

Am7 Am7/D Em    Take me in by the blood of the Lamb

CM7 Em D/E   So take me in - to the Holy of Holies

Am7   Take the coal,

Am7/D A/B   Cleanse my lips

B+7 Em   Here I am

The Holy of Holies. We have no idea. Really. We do not realize that all the Old Testament holy things we read about are in the Tabernacle. It was central to the lives of God's people, and it was a foreshadowing of the holiness and sacrifice to Christ. You can read about The Tabernacle and the Holy of Holies in Exodus 25-31. I found an awesome-looking wall chart with these Tabernacle items on it, if you are interested. The Wall Chart is large and colorful and interactive.

  • High Priest and His Garments
  • Gate of the Court
  • Court Fence
  • Brazen Altar
  • Laver of Bronze
  • Tabernacle Tent
  • Holy Place
  • Golden Lampstand
  • Table of Showbread
  • Altar of Incense
  • Veil
  • Most Holy Place
  • Ark of the Covenant
  • Mercy Seat
  • Golden Censer
  • Cloud and the Pillar of Fire
  • Offerings (burnt offering, grain offering, peace offering, sin offering, and trespass offering)

     This is another really awesome MAP of the TABERNACLE. It is very detailed in pictures and information.

  • Saturday Psalm & Praise - Nothing But the Blood

    3:33 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2008 .. Posted in Saturday Psalm and Praise Meme .. 1 comments .. Link

    By request of Isaac, our four-year-old, my selection this week is Nothing But the Blood. He got up and got the the hymnal and asked me to find Nothing But the Blood. I believe it is his and Eric's favorite hymn. I told him it is number 208. The chances of him remembering that number is greater than the chances of me remembering it! I started singing it to him, and he got up and let everyone else know I was going to sing it to them all.

    This is one of the first songs I remember singing after I was saved from the worldly lifestyle I was living and all my sin. I was attending an Assemblies of God church in Las Cruces, and we had about fifty or so members. I loved singing hymns. I had grown up Catholic, and knew many of the old hymns, but they took on new meaning as a Believer who understood what the blood was for. I had met Matt and his family even before I became a Believer, and his Grandmother was well-spoken in the Word and discernment, so I learned a lot.

    Nothing but the Blood
    Robert Lowry, 1876

    What can wash away my sin? nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    what can make me whole again? nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
    no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

    For my cleansing this I see—nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    for my pardon this my plea—nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
    no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

    Nothing can for sin atone—nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    naught of good that I have done—nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
    no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

    This is all my hope and peace—nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    this is all my righteousness—nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
    no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

    Now by this I’ll overcome—nothing but the blood of Jesus;
    now by this I’ll reach my home—nothing but the blood of Jesus.
    O precious is the flow that makes me white as snow;
    no other fount I know, nothing but the blood of Jesus.

    About ten years ago, we had a missionary speaker from about twenty miles away visit our church. We were privileged to go out to lunch with them and some very good friends afterwards. We became friends with them, especially Jocelyn, who felt a special love for the Cambodian people. We did a country study on Cambodia for a homeschool fair, and watched movies about the Khmer Rouge and the atrocities they did, wrote reports and built a 3D map the size of a poster board. Mr. Bell even let us borrow some of his authentic artifacts to display. In one of his talks, he spoke about the Blood and how we as Christians understand the one side of the cross, the salvation side, where the Blood washes away our sins, but the other side of the cross seems to escape us. The side where the Blood was shed for our healing. The other side of the cross where "by His stripes we are healed".

    See, he was explaining that the Cambodians and cultures like theirs really do deal with the spirit world. They are fearful, and they do offer sacrifice to the gods of their fear. They have customs that reflect that fear, like tying a string onto the ankle or wrist of a newborn to ward off the spirits and keep them out (or keep them in, I can't remember). We need to also experience 'the other side of the cross', the healing of the sacrifice. We, as Believers, accept the Salvation, but many times we do not call upon the Lord for miraculous healing, which was also why He shed His blood.

    Please remember to pray for Ami Ortiz, a fifteen year-old who had a bomb explode in the basket he was holding. Pray for his miraculous healing.

    blessings!
