Official first week of School!!!!

Well, it is finally here, the moment we have all been waiting for in our family! The official first day and week of school!

I am going to post here what my goals are for each day, then I will have another post of what we do each day. This is for my family and friends and for those of you on my ldswomenshaven site and my ldshomeschoolersrus yahoo group, to give you an idea of how I am doing this great thing called homeschooling, I also encourage all of you to start a homeschooling blog, it is an awesome way to keep records and to be able to go back and say " WOW" look at what we have done!!!! We are awesome moms and teachers ! LOL

By the way, just as a side note, I am so incredibly new at this homeschooling thing, my kids are only 5,4, and 2, but I did homeschool most of my jr high and high school years, so I have a bit of experience on that end, just absolutely no idea what it is like to be the teacher! My mom used curriculum that basically had the lessons planned out ,etc, and she did do alot of planning, but I am actually doing my own lesson plans, curriculum etc. for this year, then we are looking into Karl Maeser academy for dylan next year, but I have to admit, I adore doing my own thing! it is so much fun to plan things out, explore new things to learn about, plus my kids have a say in what they are interested in learning about. So I am no expert, but I do love doing this.

All the textbooks are in!

Well, we received Dylans last textbook in the mail yesterday! So now it is time to get planning!!! I am sooo excited! I just have a couple more preschool things to get marlee, and i am going to pick up a couple of coloring books for Sydney, to keep her occupied while the rest of us have school. Although I am pretty darn sure that she will just be wanting to join right along! LOL. So now, the next couple of weeks are going to be devoted to planning and getting the final touches done on the schoolroom/playroom. Keith promised to bring in the table we are going to use, so that will be great, hopefully it will be done today. I have to clean clean clean the house today, so maybe everything will be done and organized!!! I am soo excited to begin and start planning!

Love, Jaelle

Camping and nice hot "smoes"

The kids had some friends come over today and they went "camping"!! Keith set the kids' big tent up in the backyard and they played and played!! We read Curious George goes Camping. Then they played outside in the tent. Afterwards we came inside and had juice pouches and made smores in the microwave. Or "smoes" as Buzz Lightyear calls them! It was Sydney and Marlee's first time having smores! They loooved them! I will try and get a picture up, it was soo cute. They had chocolate faces! Tonight I had to run Dylan to the dr. He is on antibiotics all the time, and he had developed a yeast infection. Poor little guy. He just goes through so much. He is such a great kid though!!

Tomorrow I am hoping to be able to start officially planning school!! I am just soo excited!

Love, Jaelle

Our adventures in homeschooling!

We are starting school in just a couple of weeks. I have so much to do to prepare! I have most of the curriculum bought and it sitting in a box by my bed- waiting for me to read it and plan! This weeks purchases will be crates for the kids, one each to keep their schoolbooks in ( even baby Sydney will have one with coloring books and crayons just for school time! maybe it will keep her busy! LOL) and then I will head to the Dollar Tree to find some little preschool books ( they had disney princess ones) for Marlee and flashcards! That is what will be in her crate, she learns best through flashcards, memorization, and song, so I will be on the lookout for learning songs and flashcards! I have to buy a big fat notebook to plan everything in! I want to have a good plan of what will be done on what days, kind of a schedule but we will be flexible about getting it all done, if Dylan is tired, we wont freak out about it not being done! I am in the process of getting my house organized- a huuge process! I want to be able to not worry about housework as much as I do, when we start school. I just wont be able to do everything and school and kids will come first! So we are getting rid of sooo much stuff! It is great! We had a yard sale just thrown together in 2 days, and we sold every single thing and made 200 dollars to boot! Now we have enough junk unburied to have another yard sale LOL. but this time we are throwing away and donating stuff!

So I am off to clean my bedroom and turn it into a tranquil place just for me and hubby! I am going to have books in my bedside table, he has put in a reading lamp above my bed, lovely! I am sooo excited to have a lovely bedroom, not a catch all!!!!

With Love,

Jaelle
