Thursday 18 October 2007 - Blues Goal!!

Our Blues are doing great so far this season!  I went to a game on Friday and got their 4th goal on video, as well as the "Towel Guy".  Who's the "Towel Guy", you ask? Well, a few years ago, a guy who had a season ticket in the upper area of the arena started coming to the edge after every Blues goal and wave his Blues towel in the air, cheering and trying to lead the crowd in a chant. Everyone thought he was kind of weird for the first year or two. He's always in the same clothes: a Blues jersey and blue & yello camoflauge pants. But now, everyone loves him, and the Blues support him. He's appeared in commercials, and even got to come out on the ice before the home opener this season. The who audience chants along with him now too. I think he's pretty cool. I guess that he doesn't have to pay for his season ticket anymore, and he's always in the same seat. He never misses a game and cheers for every goal. How cool is that?
Anyway, he's in the video too. I plugged in to Memaw's high speed Internet while we were at her house Sunday so that I could upload it.

And....since I can' t seem to get the embedded link to work....you'll just have to click on this one to view it.

Sunday 23 September 2007 - Tag, the Fourth...

This one was hard for me...

And yes, it took me forever to post it. That's me: Procrastinator Extraordinaire. ;) (BTW, I had to type this twice. Right after I clicked 'post', I got disconnected from the Internet! :( )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are riding in an air-plane when you happen to look out your window and see a dragon flying alongside the plane. You...
A: Scream.
B: Remain perfectly still, too scared to make any noise or even move.
C: Jam your fist through the window and leap on the dragon's back.
D: Faint.
E: Say, "Hey it's a dragon!
None of the above. I'd probably stare at it in awe....
You are sleeping over your friend's house, it's late at night, but you can't fall asleep. Lying in bed, you hear their front door creep open, and the sound of someone coming in and sneaking around the house. You...
A: Grab a baseball bat, or anything on hand that looks in any way like a weapon, and peek past the door to see what’s going on.
B: Hide under your covers and remain very still, hoping the burglar or whoever it is would just go away and leave poor you alone.
C: Wake up your friend or whoever is closest at hand to tell them what you hear.  I wouldn't leave whichever room I was in.....     I'm scared of the dark, and having some unknown person walking around in it (in an unfamiliar house, no less!) makes it ten times worse.
D: Make scary ghost-like noises, knowing that trying to scare the burglar out of the house is the best option.
E. Awake the parents and hide in the closet, hoping he doesn't look in there.
One of your friends challenges you to do the chicken dance in the middle of Wall-Mart. You....
A: Do it! Who cares what people think!
B: Gasp! Who would do such a thing?
C: only if he/she does it first!
D: Try on some sunglasses and pretend you don't know this person.
E. Make them pay you first.
You find a million dollars on the floor. You...
A: Try to find its owner (if not keep it)
B: Start dancing and shouting "I got a million dollars!"
C: Leave it alone...let someone else get it.
D: Go shopping
None of the above. Take it to the Lost & Found and make sure that whoever's there doesn't keep it themselves. (I've lost cash in Wal*Mart before, it's no fun. :( )
Some stranger walks up to you and says, "Want to go for a ride"? You....
A. Stare at em' and say "are you kidding me?!"
B. Say " yeah sure!"
C. Step on their toe and run away  Or something like that....
D. Say "FREAK" and run away.
E. Say "No"
Your best friend since kindergarten is acting weird. You...
A. Ask her/him what's bothering them.
B. Start acting weird, too.
D. Say 'You're not my friend anymore, you never want to hang out.'
E. Say "what's YOUR problem?"
You’re stranded on a deserted island. You…
A. Run around screaming for help
B. Start gathering fire wood and figuring out some sort of shelter.  Second...
C. Begin to explore, you might as well know your surroundings.  Third...
D. You build a huge fire in hopes that someone will see it and rescue you.  First...
E. Sit on a rock and write your dying wish
The neighborhood bully walks up behind you and pushes you over on your way home from your walk. You...
A. Get up and keep walking, ignoring the bully.
B. You get up and yell in his/her face.
C. You get up and sarcastically say that you love him/her and walk away.
D. You run and get your mom.
E. Cry and run away
F. Get into a fist fight
You go out to get the mail and your neighbors 500 pound Rottweiler comes streaking straight at you and barks up a storm, frothing at the mouth and growling. You....
A: Start throwing anything handy at him.
B. Run away screaming
C: Yell that your dad's a lawyer, (even if he isn't one) and that you're going to sue
D: Cry like a little girl and cover head with your arms
E: Say "Niiice doggie" and attempt to pet him.
F: Climb a tree.
None of the above. Walk away slowly.
Saturday 2 June 2007 - New Design!!
I decided to choose a new template today. After looking at all of them, considering several, and finding none that would really work for what I needed. I chose one that would be easy to work with.......and spent all afternoon modifying the template HTML code!  And I still need to learn how to fix some more things, like the title. I want it centered and to stand out more. So I'll be going through a quick HTML course for the next few days, I think. Oh, and for anyone else eho might want to learn some, htmlgoodies.com is a really good site. ;)
So, let me know what you think!
Friday 1 June 2007 - Baby Goat Update!
Well, the baby goats are doing wonderfully! :) They're all very fond of jumping around in their little 'playground'. If I had high speed internet, I'd upload a video of them for you all, but sadly, I don't. :( Maybe I can ask my Mom if I can uplaod it overnight or something. ;)
Anyway, Honey's kids have been named. Bucky and Amber! :) And they've decided to keep them! :D
Also, I've uploaded some new pictures (including a couple of me with Bucky), and once I've edited them, I have even more to add that I took yesterday. So, you can click on the link in the post below and look at them. :)
Wednesday 23 May 2007 - Baby Goats!
This morning my family and I wnt over to some friends' house to care for their animals, as they're at the hospital (a baby girl was born to them at 11:50 pm!). They have chickens, goats, and dogs. One of their goats, Cleo, had twins (Chief and Belle) a few days ago, and when we arrived this morning, we found that the other one, Honey, had just given birth to twins as well! They each had a doe and a buck. The bucks both have white markings on them. They are so cute! Unfortunately, Honey wouldn't let her babies drink any milk! We had to call a friend of ours, another goat farmer, over to help us out, as we've never had to deal with anything like this before! After a couple of hours, both of them finally got some. We went back again this evening, and they're nursing just fine on their own now.
I've formed a bond with Honey's little buck. :) He's the cutest little thing! He has a pretty white belt and a white ring around one of his feet. He also has an overbite, and loves to wag his tail! Honey's doe is a solid brown color. Cleo's buck, Chief, also has white marking on him, and white ears. He's a really pretty one! He loves to cuddle and sit in peoples' laps. Not very 'chief' like! :P Cleo's doe, Belle, is also solid brown and is a little acrobat!
Photographer that I am, I took lots of pictures!  Here's the link to the album:  Goat Photo Album. I'll be adding more pics of them as they grow up, so check back evey once in a while!
Monday 14 May 2007 - Tagged Again!
Well, I've been tagged by Elissa again! It seems that I have created some new rules. :P I wonder if this will keep going back and forth?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What things remind you most of fall?  Multi-colored leaves.

What is your favorite name? I have no clue! Ummm....I've always liked Ashleigh.

What scent reminds you most of your grandmother's house?  Well, White Diamonds perfume reminds me of my Grandma, a.k.a. Memaw :) As for her house, I don't know. She almost always has a candle burning, but it's never the same kind!

What is most calming to you? Flowing water. Like a stream or creek.

What is your favorite part of the thanksgiving meal?  Pumpkin Pie Supreme! :D

What is your favorite type of music?  Christian Rock. Not hard rock, though. More like soft rock, in a way, I guess. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, lets see. I think I'll see if I can get Memaw to post an answer. You can just post your answers to the questions above in a comment. Think you can handle that? :P  And Danny (my brother), how about you try it? :)
I guess I need to think up of some new questions for you, Elissa?
What reminds you most of Spring?
Who are you named after (if anyone)?
What's your favorite candle scent?
What excites you the most?
What's your favorite holiday?
What's your favorite movie soundtrack (or score)?
Monday 7 May 2007 - Ginger, Lemon, and Honey Tea
This tea is great for colds. Not only does it actually help fight the cold, it also provides relief.
Ginger, Lemon, and Honey Tea
  1. Boil 3 cups of water in a saucepan.
  2. While it boils, grate (preferred) or thinly slice up a two-inch piece of ginger root.
  3. When the water comes to a boil, turn it down to a simmer.
  4. Add the ginger.
  5. Let it simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Turn it off and add the juice of half a lemon.
  7. Add 2 big tablespoons of honey and mix it all up.
  8. Strain the tea into a cup and enjoy.
You may need to adjust the amount of honey to your taste. You can even add more lemon if you want, or more ginger if you like it really strong.
Also, if you want to be creative, add anything you like to it, if you think it'll taste good. ;)
When you need more, heat it back up and strain more out. Leaving the ginger in allows it to get even stronger.
Saturday 28 April 2007 - Chicken Baked with Potatoes and Garlic
Edited: 5 May, 2007 (See Below)
This is an awesome recipe! The rosemary goes wonderfully with the potatoes!
Chicken Baked with Potatoes and Garlic
Ingredients:
3 ½ lb chicken, cut into 12 – 16 pieces
2 ¼ lb yellow waxy potatoes, quartered (we used red potatoes, and they were good)
1 onion, sliced (you don’t have to use this, if you don’t want to)
20 small – medium sprigs of Rosemary (or just use the dried kind from the store to taste)
salt and ground black pepper to taste
8 Tbsp olive oil
20 unpeeled garlic cloves (you can use less if you like)
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Put the chicken pieces, potatoes, onion, rosemary, salt and pepper into a large, shallow baking dish. Mix together and then pour on the olive oil. Scatter the garlic cloves over the top and bake the dish for 20 minutes.
Lower the oven temperature to 375 degrees F and bake for a further 45 minutes or so, turning the chicken and potatoes occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through, the potatoes are tender and golden, and the garlic skins are nice and crisp on the outside.
EDIT:  I made this yesterday for dinner and I used fresh herbs in it from my garden. I used lots of Rosemary (of course!), lots of Savory (which is really good with Rosemary, excellent in Italian foods, and in some Mexican and stews- I love Savory!), a little Marjoram (which is basically a toned down version of Oregano), and Chives. If you don't have access to fresh herbs, then dried will work *almost* as well. :)
Wednesday 25 April 2007 - 2 Songs
Doorkeeper
Buried deep
Deep inside me
Are endless thoughts
In which I'm lost
It's like wandering inside a dream
Or is it a nightmare?
I want to call You in
But I'm tripping all over everything inside of me
I want to dig deeper
To find the place where I want You to be
So that I can lock the door and give You the key
Will You be my Doorkeeper?
Deep
Deep down inside
Are all the things I've kept to myself
The things I've tried to hide
But now
To make room for You
They've got to come out
So I'll shut them out and give You the key
And now it's Yours to keep
I'm calling You in
And I'm clearing out everything inside of me
I'm digging deeper
To find the place where I want You to be
I'll lock the door and give You the key
Will You be my Doorkeeper?
Take my heart
And make it Yours
Clean it out
And make it pure
Go far
Dig deep
Way down
Inside of me
I'm calling You in
To clear out everything inside of me
I'm digging deeper
To the place where I want You to be
And I'll lock the door and give You the key
Will You be my Doorkeeper?
Will You be my Doorkeeper?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Looking Back

What would you say if you found that your whole world was slipping away?

How would you feel if everything you knew was suddenly gone?

Looking back on things that happened long ago

You finally realize why the things you didn't know

Were so hard on you

You couldn't see the truth

Holding on to everything that you could keep in your grasp

Not knowing that all you had to do was ask

With the faith of a child

He could help you run the whole mile

Keep you on the narrow road

And shoulder your heavy load

All the while lending you His smile

Didn't you know that He was waiting there to lend a helping hand?

Couldn't you see that He had your whole life planned?

He only wanted the best for you

To show that His love for you was faithful and true

He wouldn't have it any other way

And so He watched over you each and every day

Holding you in His arms

To cover you and keep you from harm

Guiding your steps as you walk the path of life

Helping you through the worry and the strife

And yet you didn't know

You just didn't know

Hold on, hold on

He's always there, He'll always be there

Looking back on things that happened long ago

You finally realize why the things you didn't know

Were so hard on you

You couldn't see the truth

What would you say if you found that your whole world was slipping away?

How would you feel if everything you knew was suddenly gone?
