J and R learn at home!

Unplugged?

I have been spending waaay too much time reading blogs, planting veggies on Farmville, and generally wasting time on the Internet!  I'm not updating my blog as much as I'd like to, and I'm not even writing as many articles as I'd like to be, all for the sake of wasting time.  I'm not one to sit and while away hours watching soap operas or gameshows, but once I sit down in front of the computer, sometimes I do look up, and am shocked that an hour or two has flown by without me accomplishing what I originally turned it on to do!

The problem is that I work online, and I have to do research online in order to complete that work.  Often I'll start out researching something that I need to learn about, such as party ideas for a Southwest theme party.  Then I get sidetracked looking at all of the nifty party favors available at Oriental Trading Company, then I start thinking about how our craft supplies could use some updating, and before I know it, I did not write my article, but I have a list of all sorts of fun new things that I'd like to order from amazon.com or, my favorite homeschool supply source, RainbowResource.com!

I went and downloaded a nifty little program that allows you to set a timer, and when the time is up, it shuts down your computer.  In fact, right now, I have 8 1/2 minutes before automatic shutdown, so I need to type quickly!  This has helped me to prioritize what needs to get done.

I need an Internet vacation!  You know  how you go away on a trip, and don't even think about checking email?  Your life seems so much better without the computer.  (And by "your," I actually mean "my!")

If you don't see me around online (which, if you're not on Facebook, you really haven't seen me much in a long time anyway, because I've totally neglected my blog as of late!), it's because I'm Unplugged.  :)

About Me

Welcome to our blog! I'm Michelle, wife to John (usually called Dad around these parts, and also in this blog). We have two awesome, silly kids: J, our son, who is 8 1/2, and R, our daughter, who is 6. I'm also a freelance writer who enjoys scrapbooking and reading in my spare time. This blog was started several years ago in Florida, but we moved back to our native Connecticut a year ago this spring. Come see how we spend our days, and what types of things my fingers come up with when I take a few minutes to blog. Enjoy!
