Learning As We Go

Back to homeschooling

Hopefully we can get back on subject of Home School!

Caleb will probably be coming home tomorrow.    There has been remarkable difference since he started the steroid treatment.   He is back to his silly self.

I'm looking forward to being able to blog about fun stuff!

Writing from Ronald McDonald Room

Caleb is playing Playstation 2 in his room.   He started on steroids last night and slept well.

He is hungry this morning and still on clear liquids.  Doctor is hesitant about being optimistic because we have been disappointed several times this week with thinking he was 'on the mend' and  then he would get sick in afternoon after his liquid lunch.

This is nothing to do with home school but is something to do with life.   I am studying Chrons.  I imagine that Caleb will be doing some studying next week and getting support.

Ok, I need to go back to see how he is doing.   My therapy time is over.

Hospital

Well, Caleb is still in hospital.   We were disappointed that he did not come home today.  The doctors will start him on steroid drugs tomorrow.  Caleb gets pain relief from sitting in bath tub and doctor said that was fine for him to do.   Does anybody else think that it is a strange pain reliever for a person to use while in the HOSPITAL?    Sorry, I think I may be stressed out. (smile)

Anyway, that's what is happening in our life right now.   Wow, it is a good thing we homeschool....even though we aren't doing classes right now.  At least we can use the summer to make up missed time.

Chron's

Caleb was diagnosed with Chron's Disease about a month ago.   He has been taking medicine for 4 weeks.

He was complaining of a stomach ache for several days and we took him to doctor on Tuesday.  The doctor sent him to ER and he was admitted.

This is all new to us.  We are reading and trying to find out as much as we can about this disease.

The blog bug did not get me

I am surprised that I did not get hooked on blogging like I do so many other things.  I notice that I signed up for this blog site and never did anything other than my initial blog.

I did recently get hooked on Yahoo!Answers and like to read the homeschool questions and answers there.  It gets boring after awhile.  How many times do people want to ask about 'socialization' and 'how do you get your diploma'?  Ahhh..oh yea, and the question 'do homeschooled students go to college?'  I can't figure out whether to laugh or cry.  It would be funny if it were not so sad that so many people are uninformed and misinformed on homeschooling.

Anyway, hopefully I will post more on here.  I have taken time today to read a few blogs.  It has helped me to refocus.

Quick entry

This is just a quick entry to get myself going on the 'blog' thing.  I love to write so this should be fun.  I'm not sure why it has taken me so long to sign up here but I'm excited about sharing ideas.

Thoughts about homeschooling and life.
