Janne's Jabberwocky

Hypothetical Situation ;)

Let's say you were moving in...oh I don't know...NINE DAYS!...and let's say you would only live at this location for 4-6 months before moving again. Now let's pretend this house was 900 sq. ft. smaller than where you are now and you really need to pack away all but the bare necessities into storage. What would you absolutely move with you now? What could you not bare to be without for six months?

Beautiful Template!

I love your new template! Ok, I live in just about 900 square feet, possibly a bit less. It is difficult but it can be done. We have very little storage, which of course makes matters much worse.

If I were going to move and would only be there temporarily, I would take with me, my computer, a few good books, family photos, school books, and any other absolute necessities. I would pack away most of the toys, craft stuff, clothing, and extra dishes, ( we seem to accumulate a lot of tupperware, plastic and other unnecessary kitchen junk.) I might think it a blessing and maybe the start of living more simply, but more than likely, you might see a crazed woman tearing apart my storage unit, looking for something I was sure I wouldn't be needing!

Blessings, Hallie

*bed, sheets, bedding
*one big box of toys
*books for this school year only
*kitchen pots and pans and dishes and bakeware

That's about it, I guess. Eating, sleeping and learning. Anything else?

Well, I would for sure take the kids. And even tho he only gave me 9 days notice, I'd try to remember to take the husband too.

I'm sorry, Janne. This seems like an awful lot. Are you able to keep your chin up?

Well........when we first moved to Tn we stayed with my dh's aunt & uncle in a *small* basement apartment. We only had three children than so it wasn't as small as it would be now. : ) It was partially furnished so most of our stuff had to go into storage. However we did keep a few of our things to use on a daily basis. I liked my dishes better and ofcourse the computert o stay in touch with friends. I don't think I brought out any decorations or family knick knackie stuff. I did put a few pictures out to make it feel like our home. I suppose it will all depend on how much stuff one wants to pack and unpack : )

I need to give a serious answer since we have done this a couple times.

Each child gets a small box, and I help them choose their stuff that will go.
Depending on how much you can ship, choose between 1 and 5 boxes for books
Computer
Bill paying stuff and family/friends addresses

Dishes, linens, and furniture were provided for us...what about for you? If not, go with sleeping bags for all the kids. By cheap ones if you have to that you will toss out after 4 months of washing once a week.

Dishes are harder, but we lived on a skeleton collection for a few months:

Forks, spoons, table knives
Sharp knives...one steak, one paring, one butcher
2 slotted serving/cooking spoons, and 2 regular
Spatula
Can opener
Set of 3 different sized mixing bowls
1 8 cup measuring bowl
1 set measuring spoons and plastic measuring cups
Plates, glasses, cups
1 frying pan
1 large pot
2 small pots
1 strainer

1 towel & washcloth per person
2 laundry baskets

Tim's home so I need to go...is this even what you were looking for?

Oh, my, what would I take...my computer, financial files (tax season is upon us), a few outfits for everyone, any favorite cooking pots/utensils, coffeemaker, cooler (we usually take our lunch on long days out or field trips), oh, yeah...schoolbooks, DD's markers and art box (glue, scissors, fabric scraps...this'll keep her busy for hours), DVD player and movies, blankets, towels, bedsheets, digital camera, medicines (including over the counters...it's expensive to replace those!!)

Oh, and 20 dozen doughnuts for my "stress eating" and 10 12-packs of Diet Mtn Dew.

Sending you a big (hug)...you've been in my thoughts lately. I do pray all goes smoothly.

sorry...my house is less than 900 sq ft to start with. My normal every day stuff might be top on your can't do without list, though, I guess. Good luck with it...I was happy to finally have a house, albeit a small one, in order to unpack all my boxes!
