I have to say that I am not a lover of skip counting. I find it to be very challenging. We are in the process of learning to skip count by 9's. Maybe it is just me but I don't remember learning to skip count by 3's, 6's and 9's. I can only remember my 2's, 5's and 10's. Go figure. Well in an attempt to find a more exciting way to learn how to skip count rather than just simple memorization I began a search. I found several ways to memorize them but here is the one that I chose for it's simplicity:
Skip Counting Songs
2's Row Row Row Your Boat
3's Mary Had a Little Lamb
4's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
5's Happy Birthday
6's Old McDonald
7's Yankee Doodle
8's Skip to My Lou
9's Take Me Out to the Ballgame
I struggled with making the tune fit the numbers but practice makes perfect. We decided to Dosie Doe to our 6's song. Who had any idea how much fun it could be to skip count!
Now I have heard some negative responses to memorizing to songs. What do you think?
