May. 12, 2009 - A Wasted Day

I had so many things I wanted to accomplish today, but just could not seem to get myself going.  I tried and I tried, but I just could not motivate myself to do anything.  Have you ever had days like that?

All around my home, everywhere I look, I see "evidence" that I've worked outside the home for the last 9 months.  My life is in total chaos and is in dire need of some organization.

Usually when it gets this bad, I go into "avoid" mode.  It's easier to just ignore everything and let my mind wander off into another (much more peaceful) world.  Sometimes I do this by reading, watching tv, talking on the phone, etc. but most of the time, my "vice" is the internet.  There's so much to do online that you can spend hours and hours there and never get bored.

To combat this "addiction", I decided that tomorrow I'm going to "ground" myself from the internet.  I'll allow myself a few minutes in the the evening to blog but other than that, nothing.  No e-mail, no FB, no chat room, nada.  To be quite honest, this will be a struggle for me.  I might even feel like I'm going through "withdrawal".  But I need to break myself of this bad habit and learn to use the internet as a tool instead of a "fix".

So until tomorrow evening...

May. 11, 2009 - Weight loss

Wow, this is 2 days in a row I've blogged.  I'm on a roll!   I'm really tired tonight, so I'll keep this short.

It was so much fun updating my weight loss ticker after being gone for so long.  I think when I blogged way back in July, I had only lost 5 or 6 pounds.  I'm happy to report that I've now lost 26 pounds and went from a size 16 down to a size 10.  I still have a long way to go, but now that I'm seeing results I'm more motivated to stick with it!  I'm hoping to lose about another 37 pounds this year.

Well, it's my bed time.  Be back tomorrow.

May. 10, 2009 - Sorry for the LONG absence

Happy Mother's Day, everyone!  Today just so happens to be my "baby's" 8th birthday too!  Man, how time flies!

Sorry for the long absence, but life has been really crazy the last 9+ months.  As some of you may recall, I went through a divorce last year.  After months of struggling financially, I was forced to get a job to make ends meet.  Thank God, I was able to keep my kids at home during this time and continue homeschooling them (at a much more "relaxed" pace, shall we say?)

Just last week, I decided it was time to be back home full time.  I can't tell you how good it feels!  I know that money will still be tight, but we can make it now that we have no debt and a little "cushion" in the bank.  (Thank you Dave Ramsey!)

You may have noticed that I deleted my old posts.  I did that because I want a fresh start.  Everything that happened to me in the last 2 years is water under the bridge.  I've let it go, and I have no need or desire to look back.  Let's just say God got me through some VERY tough times.  Now I just want to keep my eyes on Him, while moving forward with my life.

Now that life has settled down drastically, I plan on blogging a lot more.  I'm going to try to make it a daily habit.  Those who know me know that I'm not a naturally disciplined person, so I will really need to work at it!  I'm hoping that blogging daily (or at least regularly) will help me to be more disciplined in other areas of my life as well.

Ah, it's great to be back!

You Are a Cappuccino
You're fun, outgoing, and you love to try anything new.
However, you tend to have strong opinions on what you like.
You are a total girly girly at heart - and prefer your coffee with good conversation.
You're the type that seems complex to outsiders, but in reality, you are easy to please

About Me

I'm a single homeschooling mom of 2 "plants" and 2 "pillars". We use an eclectic combination of Bible-first, Hebraic roots, delight-directed, lapbooking, notebooking, unit study, and Charlotte Mason methods in our homeschool. I love having my kids at home where they belong!
