There was one thing I wanted to post that our family loved! I got an e-mail from The Old Schoolhouse. It may have been the Old Schoolhouse Minute or something. Anyhoo, there was a neat idea posted by Nancy Carter and I thought, "That's it, that's what we'll do for Valentine's Day!" We did ours a little differently than she originally suggested and as you can see, this is good for any day, as God's Word always is!
The children read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 from their Bibles. Then we talked about each love attribute. We took hearts and on the first four printed out L O V E with 1 Corin. 13:4-8 at the bottom of the "E" heart. Then on the next 16 hearts the children divided up the attributes and wrote them out on the hearts -- is patient, is kind, does not envy, etc. We then hole punched the tops of the hearts and ran yarn through them and hung them up in the kitchen. The real lesson we have learned is not only about what God says about love, but are WE showing that love to others? For example, this morning one of the children was showing poor manners during class. I said, "You know, poor manners is rudeness. Didn't we just learn that love is not rude? Are you showing love with your actions?" Shortly after that one child was laughing at the other child's sin, and I was able to point out that "love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth". Of course, I then had to remind myself that "love is not easily angered"! Ha! Oh, how I LOVE God's Word!
Here's the picture of our hearts. You can't really read what is written, but at least you get the idea. By the way, thanks Nancy for an awesome idea!
