Picture of the Day 62/365 Square Root Day

Today is an important mathematical day. It is Square Root Day. That is the month * day = year. So today is March 3 , 09. So 3*3= 9 or 3 squared equals 9. Anyway it is cool and in honor of this I made lemon bars in a SQUARE Pan that will be cut into a THREE by THREE grid. And here are the lemon bars (they should be lemon squares today!)  We went to Amanda's recorder class today in the rain and then went to the library still in the rain. We got WET. I am tired of this rain. Peter is reading more and more. Today he read The Cat in the Hat, a version of the Ugly Duckling, and we picked out a bunch of books at the library for him to read during the week. And he has a favorite author, Syd Hoff. He wrote Stanley, Sammy the Seal, and Oliver. He is really reading books now. It is very cool. He wants to learn how to spell and and is writing notes to me daily. Yesterday he wrote "F is in firetruck." He copied firetruck, he didn't know how to spell i! And then he tried to write book study, it came out BOOK STUTEE. Not too bad if you say it out loud. A spelling program for him is in his future. (All About Spelling Level 1 is you are interested in the particular one.) We are going to use this one because has multiple levels, uses phoneme cards, and involves games. I wish I could have used this for Michael. It didn't exist two years ago though.
