New Stages
It's funny to reach a new stage that you've seen coming, but then all of a sudden here it is. That's what has happened with dd. I know she's been growing up and becoming responsible. We've done a lot of training with her over the years, and now she's this cute, fun, working machine. She has been doing mother's helper jobs and cleaning house for a couple of older ladies, but this summer she has added yard work and real babysitting to her work schedule. This week alone she has 3 babysitting jobs and a yardwork job! It has been really nice for her. She loves the people she has been sitting for and the older lady she does yard work for is such good company and pays so well! My ds has been mowing lawns and pet sitting and has made as much as dd. It's neat to see him work towards a goal. My children have to pay for some of their own clothes and for all church activities. I think both kids have enough for this year's winter retreat and are starting to save towards next summer's conference! I remember how wonderful it felt to earn money. I hope to teach my kids the money management skills that I was never taught. We talk a lot about it and help them plan. I hope they catch on quickly, instead of learning the hard way like their parents! |
