The Risen, the Chosen, and the Dark

"In Honor I act, with Action I serve." - Christopher, Guide of Shwahteylef; Book 1

First Week

Well, I have finished my first week of classes and have fallen back into my routine. I only have 12 hours this semester, but they are all classes in professional school (MAE) so each of them are going to demand more time, but it should all even out.

I am continuing my work in book 2, and now have over 80 thousand words ^^. But I still have 25K words to go through and seriously edit. I'm pretty sure when it is all said and done bk 2 will have over 85K, which is more than bk 1.

I just got interviewed for the campus newspaper this week. The article will be in the Monday or Tuesday paper. It feels pretty weird being asked questions, having a picture taken and all of that, but at least life isn't boring.

Further Progress

Thought I'd give an update on the book's progress.

I now have over 73,000 words, though I still need to go through and edit about 25,000, which is included in the current total. I'm hoping to complete the 'final draft' before classes start, and then get a trusted friend to read it before sending it off to the proofreader, then the publishers.

I still have things to work on, obviously, but I've made good progress I think so far.

Also, I will be working on a 'worksheet' my mom suggested to create to go along with book 1, since I have been using Hebrew occasionally throughout it. It will include the Hebrew words I have used and their meanings. I think I'm going to take my time on it. I have research to do and stuff, since I will be using the Hebrew Alphabet, or rather Aleph-bet, and not only English letters.

Well, back to writing again.

Book 2 Progress

Wow, sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I've been a little busy. I've been marketing my book and that kind of stuff, and then my sister also went on a mission trip to Wales and now is headed to Falls Creek for camp, so a lot has been happening. But enough excuses....

I have added several thousand words to Book 2 and have begun organizing ideas about what I'll need to draw for each chapter. I have gone through half of what I have so far and have made a few corrections and added details where they've been needed. With how things are going, next year at this time, book two should be out ^^.

Book 2: The Call of Destiny, will definitely be an extremely important book in the series, where it comes to tying all of the other books together plot and content wise. Book 2 will have a much deeper sense (theme) to it than Book 1, and will (I hope) cause the reader to think about some rather hard topics, including ones about life and death, and the fact that God allows bad things to happen. I, of course, will be aiming to keep the same feel of Book 1 (kid compatible), but the Dark Ones' true power, influence, and hatred will be revealed.

If you have read my book, please feel free to let me know what you thought about it, like who your favorite character(s) was(were) and what you thought about some of the people the eight met (like Ezrah). I like hearing what people think about what I write, it usually gets me to write faster. Also, if you have some criticisms about it, please tell me tactfully and honestly. I take criticism as long as it is delivered kindly so that it can be useful to me, otherwise I tend to ignore it.

Well, back to writing and editing Book 2...

Busy Typing

Things have been going pretty fast. I got interviewed by my town's newspaper. I think it went pretty well. Really weird to see a picture of myself in the newspaper though....
I'm currently working on book 2 and am over half way done, though I will still need to draw the illustrations for each chapter when I'm done and stuff, but I'm making progress ^^.

I was struck with a great idea for the series recently (from God no doubt) and I can't wait to move it along and weave it all together. It's still getting organized in my head, but I will soon be typing it out. I'm so happy ^^.

Well, I think that's everything for now, not much to say, just that life has been speeding along.

Website

The website is up ^^
Here is the direct link: http://www.jessicalynncampos.com.

It gives more information concerning the book, and is the only place online to get autographed copies.

Everything is moving really fast. It's good, but insane. I'll be speaking to the radio people Tuesday, had gone to a few bookstores today, and am doing a few other things concerning marketing nearly all the time. Hopefully you could follow that sentence.

On top of all of that, I am wanting to get back into writing the next book (which is good, but with everything right now, I just don't have time to at the moment). I'm hoping things will settle a little, or at least get into a routine, so I can get some work done on Book Two.

Well, I think that's everything at the moment.

I just realized I could put a direct link up to my book on Amazon.com.

There it is ^^.

My book is now on Amazon and other online stores. It is available in either paper or hardback. I am currently working on the 'official' RCD website, which will go live hopefully sometime this week. The website will be www.jessicalynncampos.com. This will be the only place people can buy autographed copies. The website will also have information about the world, like brief descriptions on the creatures, places, and characters. I will be continually improving the site as time goes on, of course, and adding certain things like pictures and more descriptions.

I am still and and and wondering 'is this real?'

And I know God has a sense of humor. Right after I get my books, and I'm ... (see above for emotions) ... while my dad and my sister go with me to visit one of my teachers, my mom calls and says, 'Hey, guess what, the OSU mailed a letter, and they've accepted you into professional school!'

So now, I'm even more and . Yesterday was pretty busy.

Well, going back to work on the website...

Done

Well, I think it's obvious that I have finished my finals and am now back at home. I just now had time to get on here to update though.

My book has been sent to the presses, and I am now waiting for my free books ^^ Yay :D everything is done now, well, besides marketing that is.

I'm now starting to go through and edit my rough draft of Book 2. I have a lot of work to do on it, but it has more words than book 1 had a year ago.

Finals and Book Progress

I'm almost done with finals, just two more... Applied Aerodynamics and Material Science. Applied Aero shouldn't be too bad, it's presenting our design projects to the class. Material Science, though, I will definitely need to study for.

Well, book progress. I have just approved my final cover and text, so now all I have to do is wait... again. But everything is done, now onto production and marketing .

My book will be out soon ^^ and I even got a ISBN now. It's so weird.

Cover and Work

Well, the cover is now in its final stages and I am hoping to send in the final manuscript really soon.
The first resubmission  is free ^^, which I am really grateful for. After making the edits, I am extremely glad I decided to hire a proofreader, and a great one at that. I never knew I could be so utterly blind. It's sort of sad :P.

I am now doing homework and studying. I have a test tomorrow and another Friday, a portfolio and a little assignment due tomorrow, and a design project to start working on this weekend. I hope dead week will be a little more peaceful....*eyes towards heaven.*
