Sep. 18, 2006 - September 18th
Last week we had a huge blessing financially! We have been struggling for quite awhile now. It was nice to finally be able to get my kiddos a few peices of new clothing that they needed! God is good!
Austen also had his first football game. He had worked hard the past 2 weeks to make it on the A squad. To our surprise he did make it and practiced with A squad the week prior to his game. When he found out he was so exited because he had his doughts about making it. Well when it came to game time Saturday we were all exited to see him play. Every time ww looked out in the fiels we expected him to be in the plays........well they never put him in
. First I was angry and then I just kept thinking Ok there has to be a reason so I will wait this out. Then as I sat in the stands, I saw him pacing back and forth and I could tell he was really upset. I began to become emotional
. I looked at my husband and said 'Thats it Im taking him off the team!'
Then when B squad went out to play they played him?????? I thought why in the world would they practice him for 2 weeks with A squad? And then put him in to play in a game with the B squad? I still have no clue as to why this happened. I will be trying to talk to coach today.
We will be going to the church tomorrow to school with the other kids.

Sep. 12, 2006 - September 12 2006

I am feeling much better today whoo hoo!! My kiddos gave me their colds.
I layed in bed most of the day Monday until I had to take Austen to practice.
Last week went fine, just had to work out the little kinks. We did spend one day at the church schooling with the other kids. Austen slept in today a bit which I don't mind, as long as he is ready to begin by 9:00.
Dh had been working a ton. I feel so bad for him. I have been trying to have everything done when he comes home from work in the evenings so he can just relax. Austen has FB practice every day so there are days I drop him off and then dh will pick him up on his way home from work.
Trying to stay on task has been a challenge this past week. Austen took 2 of his tests Monday and then he will take one today. I am trying to spread out his days because in every subject on day 1 he has to write out the meaning of words and usually it is 20 per subject.
It is a bit overwhelming !! Most of our homeschool group started a week prior to when we did so we are a bit behind, but that doesn't really matter I guess.

Sep. 9, 2006 - Our First Week Of HS
Well we made it through our first weeks :) Austen had a difficult time the first day (Tuesday), but by Thursday he was doing much better. His handwriting really is nice this year to my surprise!! He started football on Tuesday as well. It will be a crazy 2 months because he has practice daily from 5-7 pm and then a game every Saturday.
I had two hard days myself last week with migraine headaches both days
.
Last night I took Austen out for a one on one date night. We planned on going to the HS football game, but we could'nt find a place to park so we decided just to go to dinner and then we bought a movie from Wally World. We enjoyed our time together.
I probably will join the other HS group at church a couple days a week. Austen likes to be with the other kids and it is a nice change of pace for us.

Sep. 5, 2006 - A New School Year Is Here
A new year has arrived, summer went way to quick. Austen is beginning his 5th grade year. I am a bit nervous but i am confident God will be with us.
This year we will not have Jesse. So it should be a bit more realxed however i want to stay on a schedule. I am starting Blake this year he turned 3 in July. We will just do the very bascics just so he will have a bit of a head start.
Austen also starts football tonight from 5-7pm. For 2 full months it will be practice every day and games every Sat.
Kinda crazy but it will be fun!
We are doing Landmark Baptist Press for curriculum and the subjects are:
Bible, English, Math, Spelling, Science, and History. Austen is being extremely slow today (being his first day) he is on subject 2 and started at 9 am it is now 11:30 lol. First thing this morning his mouth was running so I sent him to his room to do his work. Ugh.....this is so scarey to me but God is going to get us through it I just need to stay consistent and NOT let my emotions get the best of me :) I remember all the times I wanted to give up last year but I didn't cave in I just kept going
.

Jun. 9, 2006 - School Yesr Finished!!

Yes surie! Austen finished his testing this week. We are all set for summer. I did go and get him 3 good books to read this summer, and we will still continue every other day with math.
I am still up in the air about next year, as far as Reading-Literature goes. Also I really wouldn't mind getting a different curriculum for history. I really like Lanmarks curriculum but the materials are quite boring. There are very few pictures and its all black and white. But as far as Biblically, it is right on!
The church is also talking about having a school there but I really don'r forsee it happening right away because we will not have our new building for a year or two.
Blake fell today and hit his chin on the counter and his front teeth went through his tonque
talk about panic ugh.....he has a hole in his tonque. Poor lil guy. I finally got the bleeding to stop and then called the advice nurse. She said just to watch it and make sure it didn't swell. He's doing good tonight.
I started a graphic list with rated "G" tags. I send Mon-Wed-Fridays, if any of you are interested. They go to your e-mail box.

Jun. 1, 2006 - This Week
We have been busy every day reviewing for the state test coming up next week on the 5th,6th,7th.
I went over english, and math Mon-Wed and today we will review History mostly just the states. Austen doesn't seem at all concerned with the test. I am actually really glad that last year he was in public and had the experience of taking the WASL. Im sure this IOWA test is much in the same. It will be taken over the course of three days and just a few hours each day. We will take it at our church and two of the the home-school moms will administer it .
Blake broke out again yesterday, but just a small amount on his legs, so I didn't give him any medicine. We are also potty training
and boyee is that a challenge. He doesn't like to keep his clothes on and then he has just started trying to dress himself (ugh). He comes out with 2 or three shirts on and they are all on backwards
.
Well it's 3 am in the morning another night of no sleep
I have had this cold and it has settled in my chest. My thraot is hurting soooo bad. I have been drinking tons of tea. Today is Jessee's last day with us so we are suppose to go to the Hilander (fun center). But Im just not sure I will be up to it
.
Dh will be getting up here in an hour, I figure i might as well stay up and get him off to work. I get up every day with him at around 4:30am.

May. 31, 2006 - Ok.......here it is :)
I know..........it's been a long time since I have updated
. And I see you all have been so faithful with your blogging
. Well since I last wrote Blake has been breaking out in rashes. He has had 4 separate incidents. (oh please forgive my typos......I am just waking up
.) The rashes seem to vary. The first time they were mostly on his legs and back. The second time, mostly on his arms and tummy, third time very different looking than the others but he had it on his face and all over his body. What I do know is that they ARE hives. I took him in April 7th and the doctor said they were definatly hives but we could not pinpoint what it was that caused them. He said either a virus or an allergic reaction. He did run a short fever that time. Still we are at odds as to what is causing them. I am keeping track of evertything he eats and what is in his enviornment as well. I am praying that we will get some insurance for the kids as they are now not covered
. The second time I took him back into the doctor he gave me a stronger anihistemine for him. That was the ticket to getting rid of the rash in about a day or so. But then it keeps coming back
.
I took some pics of the first time he broke out.
On the homefront........
Well we decided to stay put for now and NOT sell the house. While the market is booming right now, and we would make quite a bit from equity we would habve a difficult time getting into something with decent payments. Property is just crazy !! I am happy and content here for the time being, until God gives us peace about moving.
On the school front.........
Yippppppppeeeeeee we are all done with school except for this week we are reviewing for his state test next week. He will be taking the IOWA state test. Math we will still be doing all summer because I did put him back in 3rd grade text beings this is his first year of home-school an dthe 4th was just to advanced. This is also the last week I will have Jessee. He has been a blessing and made it easier on Austen to adjust to his first year of home-school. I still can not believe how fast this year has gone.

May. 1, 2006 - Quick Update
Hello all you fello Bloggers out there. It has been so long since I have updated. Life has been crazy as always. But God is always blessing and I am so greatful for His Love and mercy
!!
I can not believe today is MAY 1st
. This school year has just really gone fast. Im not sure when we will be completely done with school. I was hoping that it would be the first week of June, but we will see. We are now on week 32 and go until week 36
.
We have had our ups and downs this year and God has taught us so much! I never thought I could do it in the fist place but God knew I could when I counted on Him for my strength! Things really changed after I went through some heavy trials with Austen, and begged God to show me what it was I needed to change. I thought that the answer was to put him back in public school, But that was not what God had in mind at all.
I started working with Austen on 3 of his subjects where I just took the time to sit down and read some and work together. It was then that I noticed a huge difference in his behavior and my JOY
! I am happy to report we are doing well
Testing is coming up, here June 5,6,7. We will be doing the IOWA standard test. I have no idea about the testing I am praying though it will go well.
Well all for now, I need to get off here and get ready, I finished my
and Im ready to roll
Have a BLESSED day and I will come visit your bloggs soon

Mar. 28, 2006 - Grumpy Momma.........
I just wanna crawl back in bed right now
I was up most of the night off and on.......and when I don't get enough sleep it's so hard for me to function. Austen is doing quarter test this week.......along with the week review in each subject so like Friday we did Bible, Monday we did English, Today we are doing Science, then tomorrow will be History. Thursday and friday I will concentrate on math.......he is still behind because I had to start him back in 3rd grade home-school curriulum.........but we will be doing math all summer.
I am sooooo READY for SPRING Break!!!!
A whole week OFF yippppeee! So we will finish up with quarter testing this week and then be ready to start fresh with a new quarter which is the LAST quarter of the year
......the home strech before summer!!
I am still not sure what we are going to do during spring break just yet, no big vacation but I would like to do some things with the kids.
I have been really getting behind though in my house because of taking the time to SIT with Austen and help with his school work. My dh has been frustrated about spring cleaning so I am hoping that I can do some of that during spring break.
Are you all ready for Spring Break?
Have a Blessed Day......

Mar. 27, 2006 - Home-School Fun
Ok got all my dishes done. Austen just unloaded the dish washer
.
We had a GREAT day of home-school today. Austen is doing whole week subjects and then taking his quarter test. The whole week is review so its a good study and then he takes the test. I am really proud of him, and things are getting better by the day.
Mariaya was over today so her and Blake have played while I schooled with Austen. He had his Oral report night last week, with all the other home schoolers in our church. He really did a good job, for it being his second time! His report was on James Cash Penny (J.C.Penny), it was very interesting.
It was a sad day day last Friday............we lost a dear sister in the Lord to Lung cancer
. She was the sweetest ladie and was always such an encouragement. She will dearly be missed! But we do know we will se her again soon, she is with the Lord and is in pain no more
.
Well I am off here now.........gotta put blake down for his nap

Mar. 17, 2006 - God Is So Good!
God is so good!!
This week has been another challenging week....but I spent it in devoted prayer! Asking God to reveal what it was that was a stumbling block for us.
With Austen, just a certain one consequence doesn't always work, so the best thing for him is to change things around often.
But God really revealed many things this week and so I am going to do my best to make some changes. One of the changes is I will need to sit with him through most of his work. The other is I usually put Blake in another room while we home-school but I am going to let him be with us and try to find different activities to keep him busy. Austen needs to learn how to work with some noise, and can't expect things to always be quiet.

I am pretty hard on him with some things like his handwriting and instead of always making him do it over, I have decided IF it is readable than I will accept it. To me he has the sloppiest handwriting I have ever saw...lol
But really he is still learning and needs more practice.
The other realization I had is that we need to quit doing so much "book" work and try to intertwine different activities into our day. The weather is getting nicer so it will be a bit easier to get out doors. This morning I was trying to think of something for us to do and it was pooring down rain
so that was realy hard to come up with something. We are going to start walking daily, we started that Thursday, it felt so good! Blake walked right along my side and really enjoyed walking
.

Mar. 15, 2006 - Same Ole things...........
This is my day
Lol
I am trying desperatly to hang on to some hope that things will change. And begging God for answers. I know these are just trials and God is teaching me through them. I have been praying fervently, and frequenly and doing everything I can, to make things change. Same ole thing every day this week since Sunday.........backtalk. Ugh. Applying the same consequences time in and time out......not giving in, staying consistent, keeping complete control........but still no respect? I started a journal also and it has helped
. I just can't come up with anything else to apply? I am hoping that it si just going to take time and that what I have already put into play IS WORKING, because it doesn't seem to be by his actions.
I wake up praiseing God for his goodness and full of joy that he is given me another day to serve Him. He has given me a job to do, given me these precious children to raise. I am not worthy of it but he thinks I am, I thank him for his goodness. I want to do what is pleasing to Him and to raise these children to grow up and be able to serve him with their whole heart!
Proverbs 3:17 the verse i gave him for the day to meditate on...God's word is so true and I want to hide God's word in his heart, and be able to recall it .
Praying for a better day tomorrow.

Mar. 13, 2006 - A New Start...........Monday
Ohhhhhhh how I long for some quiet time!!
Not a chance yet lol. We had a good weekend. We did some bowling as a family.
It was quite funny to watch Blake try and throw the ball
Had more run ins with Austen our 10 year old. We just really need to continue to work on things EVERY DAY. Sunday was really difficult. It seems that is when satan really attacks! Austen wouldn't get out of bed, and so we were running late. Then he didn't like what was to wear to church,(told him he had to wear it) sooooooooo I just told him to go to his room and stay there. His dad came home. We went in and talked with him about his attitude. Not sure it did any good or not.........Very frustrating. I consentrated on praying for him last night and this morning, and also for me to be the mom God would have me to be.
God really spoke to me during both services yesterday! God is so good. I have started a daily journal, and I am keeping prayers and my thoughts as we grow in these difficult areas. This morning started out Ok then about 10:30 Austen started complaining............so I sent him to his room again, to do his work in there. We had originally put a desk in the front room with our old computer on it, but it really didn't get used so I decided to move it in Austen's room. Now he has a desk to sit at and do his work when he is in there.
I think one of the toughest things for us adjusting this year has been....trying to keep Blake quiet and occupied while Austen and Jessee do school. Jessee however is only here Mon-Thur from 8:30-12:00. It may help Austen be able to consentrate on doing his work better in his room.
I duno though.
Well I have lots of Laundry today and need to pick up Blakes room and clean our main bathroom too.
Toodles............
HOW COME MY GRAPHICS DON"T SHOW UP??? THEY STILL HAVE A BOX WITH THE RED X in the corner

Mar. 11, 2006 - Our Saturday............
Good Morning Bloggers!!
It's a beautiful day today. Austen had a friend over last night so they just finished making scrambled eggs. They did a good job for the first time on their own
. Wayne had to work for about 5 hours today. So he will be back this afternoon. I have lots to do and not enough time
Same ole story lol. I did some laundry yesterday but i have 3 more loads to do and then I need to clean both bathrooms. I also have some church stuff I need to catch up on..and have ready for tomorrow.
I have to share something soooo funny that happened yesterday! Austen was in my bedroom laying on my bed and he herd this sound like someone was tinkling in the potty
So he ran in my bathroom and guess who it was???

Our CAT Tigger was going pee on the potty

I could not believe it!! But sure enough he did. My great aunt had a cat that was "potty trained"............but I hadent herd of it since lol!!
This last week was abit hectic and Austen didn't get all his work finished because he took Monday and Tuesday off while we were at my MIL's house.
Well I'd better get going and get my stuff done before Dh comes home.

Have a Blessed Day my friends!

Mar. 8, 2006 - Ashamed
Well I have shared in here before some of my struggles with my oldest Austen (10) I want to be honest because just maybe there is someone else out there that struggles in this area. I feel led to share here.
From the age of a year old he has been a 'difficult' child. As parents we lost all control of him (to our own stupidity). I tried every discipline there was, took about 15 different parenting classes. I can honestly say that their approach to discipline techniques were not helpful. I have a strong willed boy. I often would take his behavior personally and from a young age he knew how to really hurt me with his words.
Austen was about 3 when I started going to church. However i really didn't learn of how to do things Biblically until he was 4. So by this time he was let's just say running our house. I never believed in spanking my child and thought it to be very wrong! But I also never knew it could be done in a calm and orderlly fashion.
Proverbs 29:15
The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.
Austen now is so big he is almost as tall as I am (5'3). He is getting to big to 'spank' but this past year we have been struggling with him on his "sassy mouth" it is called RESPECT really. I have to say that I am guilty for letting it get out of hand and now I am dearly trying to real him back in and train him. But it is a daily battle.
I am constantly asking myself......do I discipline him for this ?? or that??And often dought myself or feel guilty??
He is the sweetest and most thoughtful boy I have ever met. He is always 'doing' for others. I never had any problems with him when he was in public school he always did well. My pastor has had him over several times to stay with their children and they think he is one of the best behaved children there is! Sooo the problem lies at home.
